Description
Founded in 2016 by James Ward, Lough Gill Brewing Company aims to restore the lost tradition of brewing to Sligo town, a small town that once hosted 5 breweries. Black with a medium tan head. Roasty malts, chocolate syrup, wood, toffee, sherry, dark ripe fruits. Full bodied. Finish has some booze over a tangy fruity note with some wood. Could be a bit more smoothed out. As the booze gives it a sharp edge that detracts some, but otherwise a nice beer.

Panda thanks to Cloin. Near clear dark brown beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Smooth palate, a very mild dryness, decent fine minerally carbonation. Light bodied and smooth dark malts, soft dark chocolate and dark malt cream. Obvious whiskey vibes but manages to be tasty and fruity without being overtly boozy. All comes together pretty well into a simple but well executed whiskey ba stout.

Panda thanks to Cloin. Clear dark brown beer, a few tan bubbles never form a union. Smooth palate, mildly dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Fairly light bodied dark malts but rich in flavour. A savoury dark malt, unsweet cocoa, whisper of something vaguely peat like. Smooth and semi dry finish. Different and pretty tasty.

Can. Near opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Airy palate, smooth and semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation, fine for the style. Airy dark malts, a little dark malt cream, touch of darkish chocolate. Obvious brandy vibes, light and a little ripe fruity, doesn't have the sumptuous richness of the best brandy but, does have the rich very ripe fruitiness of decent sherry. Touches of esters and alcohol spice. Different and pretty drinkable.
