Dark brown coloured body with a thick, four to five centimetre tall off-white and deep tan head. Aroma of sugars, caramel, toffee, oats and a good earthy profile, but the sugars are seemingly pungent here. Light-bodied; Strong caramelised sugar and toffee flavours at first with some cream, lactose, earth and light nuttiness here, but the rustic and nutty flavours are the strongest. Aftertaste shows some earthiness as well, but this really is about the residual sugars and sweetness here that leaves a lot of pungency with some rustic earthiness and nuts without much else. Overall, this was nice to try and a welcome departure from the lagers and crisp ales/lagers here, but this was a bit too sweet for me, showing a pretty straight-forward beer without any real complexities. Good to try down here in Peru though of course, and while this wasn't the best choice for Ceviche, it wasn't a bad option with richer foods. I sampled this large, 66 cL? bottle purchased from La Choza Nautica (Cevecheria) [restaurant] in central Lima, Peru on 02-August-2022 with my wife and three kids while eating lunch.

33 cl bottle from Bottle King in Princeton, NJ. Bottle shape resembles the old Michelob bottles from the 1990’s. Pours amber gold with nearly no head. Aroma is malty with a touch of sweetness and pizza crust (really). Flavor is tangy, sweet malt. Earthy and grainy, with a modicum of flavor. A (small) step of above most South American lagers. Brief malty finish. Of all the beers I’ve tasted from Peru (3), this one is the best, so far.
