Description
In 1908 Ernesto Günther and a group of investors founded in the city of Cusco, a branch of the Cervecería Alemana Günther & Tidow. In 1939 Cervecera Alemana Günther & Tido changed its name to Compañía Cervecera del Sur del Perú (Cervesur) and increased its production. In 2000 the company with its plants in Arequipa and Cusco, and with the popular brand Cusqueña, becomes part of the Backus Group (Backus y Johnston), thereby consolidating itself to the point of turning it into a company capable of competing in a globalized environment. Finally, in 2015, the Backus Group becomes part of AB InBev.

Bottle (and the last of the Pale Lagers of the Caribbean and South America tour for Memorial Day weekend.) Boring pour - pale gold with little head and aromas of honey and herbal hops. Flavor - about the same. I’m glad to be done with some pointless ticking...

330 ml bottle, from the very limited foreign beer bar at the Darlington Spring Thing Beer Festival. ABV is 5%. Pale golden colour, low white head. Sweetish but not unpleasant aroma of maize, hints of floral hops. The flavour is fairly crisp and dry, but the hops are too moderate.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Perfectly serviceable lager. Supposedly brewed with water from the Andes. If it is its not lifting this beyond being a standard brew.

330ml bottle bought somewhere in London. Loose, white lacing-head over a yellow-gold body. Aroma of malt and cardboard. Sweet fruits and sweet malts in falvour. Little to counter all the sweetness. Semi-dry ending (at Finns in Tromsø, 27.10.2010).

Bottle. Not bad, in fact, this might well be the finest Peruvian beer I’ve ever had. Pours clear gold with minimal, white head. Corn and cereal malt aroma. Flavor is lightly sweet, with mild caramel and more grain, followed by only the faintest of bitter notes. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes sweet, lightly bready and a little crisp.

Re-rate 5/17/12: Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks YK23. Clear golden with a white head. Corny aroma with some dusty cardboard. Sweetish grainy flavor with corn and a bit of paper. Light-bodied. 3/3/3/2/6=1.7
Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks Aner! Clear golden with a white head. Weak grainy aroma with faint hoppy hints. Sweet grainy flavor with unpleasant bitter metal. Light-bodied. 3/3/3/2/6=1.7

Bottle. Poured a clear gold with a bubbly white head that dissipated nearly immediately. Aroma had corn with a bit of bread and hay. Flavor was crisp with mainly bread and hay. Actually balanced alright for a pale lager.
