Description
At Kinnegar we pair brewing tradition with a contemporary sense of adventure to produce clean, crisp, full-flavoured farmhouse beers. The brewery is named after the nearby Kinnegar Beach
just north of Rathmullan in County Donegal.

Our roots are deeply embedded in the hilly fields and farms of northeast Donegal. This is the perfect environment for the way we make beer. We don’t filter or pasteurise, and we let our industrious little friends, the yeast, carbonate the beer naturally during fermentation.

With the opening of K2, our new state-of-the-art facility in nearby Letterkenny in March 2017, the clinking of bottles coming off our line no longer mingles with the bleating of sheep from the surrounding fields. The farmhouse ethos at the core of what we do however remains the same.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Yoav’s place. Thanks Tom L. Clear golden. Pleasant hoppy aroma, floral and citric. Flavor is quite dry, with a bit of malt, citric and floral hops, and a bitter finish. Light-bodied. Nice and refreshing.

Bottle thanks to big bro. Hazed light golden orange coloured pour with a lasting white head. Aroma is grassy, earthy hop with a little hay. Bit dirty on the nose. Flavour is semi crisp, dirty grassy hop and a little hedgerow berry. Palate is medium light bodied with highish carbonation. Decent.

Bottle at Mum and Dads, from Callans Dundalk, 26/12/14. Black with a decent tan covering. Nose is sweet malt, light cocoa, faint charr, dark fruit notes, light fresh dung - sweet manure stylee. Taste comprises sweet notes, toasted brown sugar, nutty, vanilla, dark chocolate, light roast. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light roasted tones and sweet notes. Ok porter, a little sweet in places, can’t say I was getting any real coconut flavour just a sweet infusion, one of those beers you think you’re getting something but perhaps only because it was mentioned on the label!

Bottle @ Bittles Bar Belfast [131114]
Black, tan head, good lacing
Aroma of piney hops, citrus zest, slight herbal notes with a good dark malt background
Taste of piney hops, bitter citrus zest, slight herbal, plenty of bitter hops in this with a good stouty background of fairly bitter roast and dark malts. Lots of flavour. Not really getting the rye.
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, robust, roast not too bitter. Finish as main flavour.
Overall - It’s a black IPA to me and a very good one. Top beer from Kinnegar so far.
