Description
We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, we’re always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. We create fantastical beers to reveal to the world that beer is a magical beverage: tasty, exciting and for everyone. Welcome to our universe πŸ––πŸ½

Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.

The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

Bottle thanks to Leighton on the IoW Jolly. It pours dark brown with a thick beige head. The nose is cocoa, mild chocolate, roasted malt, lactose and some orange sherbet. The taste is bitter-sweet, roasty, coffee grounds, spicy, alcohol and orange peel with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Solid hoppy dark beer.

Bottle shared by Leighton during the IoW Jolly. It pours clear golden-amber with a small white head. The nose is earthy, dough, spice, hay, straw, grainy, light herbal, grass and passion fruit. The taste is crisp, dough, juicy tropical fruits, candy, citrus peel, light toast and sherbet with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. All comes together rather well. Very nice.

hazy golden to orange colour, huge, but not too dense white head, which however lasts for several minutes; aroma of floral notes, hints of honey, bread, some sourness, yeasts and earth; taste of floral hops, tropical fruity notes, some honey, bread and spicy notes; good saison

hazy very pale yellow colour (just like a Belgian witbier), moderate sized, but extremely long lasting foamy white head; aroma of tropical fruits, citrusy-lemony notes, yeast, earth, and some hay; taste of herbal-tropical fruity-citrusy-slightly resiny hops with yeasty-earthy notes again and some minimal floral notes; good beer...if it was not categorized as APA, I would say that it is a good saison...

33 cl bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Very dark brown color, almost opaque. Beige head. Aroma’s: lactic acid, raspberry, roasted malts, rye. With some chocolate added retronasal. Flavor is moderate sour, lactic, roasted. Body is light to medium. Finish is somewhat dry, chocolate-y. Very nice already, but some wood-aging would make this a great Flemish sour brown.

A saison with lime, nice combination. Beer is grassy and quite high on co2. Sharp and crispy taste of fruity bitter hop, with a sour touch of the lime. Good.

On tap at Kimchi. Hazy golden yellow colour, white head. Aroma of fresh cucumber and basil, some citrus, very fresh. Amazing flavour of an excellent blend of cucumber, basil and lime. Quite some basil actually, but not peppery or spicy in any way. Light-bodied, extremely refreshing. Great find, joke or not.
