Description
We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, we’re always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. We create fantastical beers to reveal to the world that beer is a magical beverage: tasty, exciting and for everyone. Welcome to our universe 🖖🏽
Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.
The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

Tap @ BeerTemple, small sample. Dark color, medium brown head. Aroma of lots of roasted malt, some coffee and dark chocolate, slight fruity note. Roasty bitterness in taste, slight sweetness. Lots of flavor in this 6% brew. Good stuff.

Tap at the Wildeman, Amsterdam. Poured a cloudy medium amber with a thin white head and some broken lace. The aroma is citrus hop and yeast. The flavour is medium bitter light sweet with a light grassy citrus hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. Really liked this. Plenty of fruit and hop flavours.

33 cl bottle, bought at the FFF, enjoyed at home. Light amber color, slightly hazy. Off white head with a one bubble layer retention. Aroma’s: sweet & sour fruit, herbs (probably rosemary, but that’s not so clear), ginger. More spices & herbs (ginger again) retronasal, with some sweetness. Flavor is rather sweet, melon, honey. A light spiciness on the tongue & palate. Medium bodied. Finish with herbs and light bitterness.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Black colour, creamy beige head. Aroma of cocoa, bitter chocolate, tar, ash, black liquorice, rather burnt. Flavour is ashy, Belgian chocolate, cocoa, bitter chocolate, hard roasted malts, some coffee, liquorice, minerals, chocolate bitter finish with a hint of berries. Light-bodied. Rather dry and bitter, not a lot of sweetness here. Nice though.
