Description
We are Oedipus Brewing. Founded by four friends in Amsterdam, we’re always ready to go where our taste buds take us. Oedipus is about fun, energy and doing things differently. We create fantastical beers to reveal to the world that beer is a magical beverage: tasty, exciting and for everyone. Welcome to our universe 🖖🏽

Since mid 2019 has Heineken a minority interest in the brewery. On June 21, 2023, it was announced that Heineken had acquired all shares of the brewery and thus became full owner of the brewery. The takeover coincides with the move of Oedipus.

The brewery and taproom at Gedempt Hamerkanaal 85 were closed on April 14, 2024. The brewery and taproom were moved to Schaafstraat 19, 300 meters further, where the Oedipus Craft Space will open in the early summer of 2024.

Bottle shared at Garbage Night II - London. Big thanks to Fergus for this one. Pours clear gold with a creamy, white foam head. The nose is fairly herbal with notes of thyme and rosemary, along with dry dough and Belgian yeast. Medium sweet flavor with pronounced herbal character, balancing pale bread, some wheat, light hay. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Moderate sweetness to finish, some pale and doughy bread, plenty more herbs, light yeast, hay. Pretty tasty stuff. Nicely balanced.

Fruity ipa, with a nice malty body. Bit too much carbo though, they should change that.

Proeflokaal Arendsnest, Amsterdam bottle: Pours slightly hazy golden with a white head. Quite tropical fruity hops with plenty of farmhouse funk. Quite dry, but not very bitter. Mineral water texture. Taste is not as fruity as the aroma. Minimal aftertaste.

Tap @ derat, medium sample. Aroma is getting better now: fresh leafy and flowery hop. Nice! Updated to 3.8 Tap @ DDDH, medium sample. Aroma could still have a bit more hoppiness. Its soft citrus, slight biscuity malt. In flavor, there is good cookie and biscuit sweetness, combined with almost clean bitterness. Slight alcohol touch in the way, that I do notice its stronger than the most session IPAs Ive been trying last weeks. Upped the score to 3.6 Bottled @ DDDH, medium sample. Hazy golden to orange color, short off-white head. Aroma has some citrus, bit yeasty, hint of sulphur. Bit malty in taste, bit bitter. Lacks a decent amount of aroma hops and is not really clean enough. Think future batches might be improved. 2.8
