Description
In 1992, in deepest Hexhamshire, Northumberland’s oldest brewery was formed, with one clear mission: to create wonderful beers using traditional methods and simple, high quality and locally sourced ingredients.

A small range of beers are brewed at any one time; a core selection of firm favourites surrounded by several seasonal ales and specially commissioned and bespoke brews.

GBBF Day 1. Cask. Clear gold, small cream colour head. Light and mildly dry palate, modest fine carbonation. Light sweetish malts. Bitterish marmalade and a mild off note. Modest spice. Light semi dry finish. Meh!

Cask at GBBF. It pours clear amber with a small bubbly white head. The aroma is earthy, cereal, rivita, spice, old rope, leather and toasted nut. The taste is drying, quite bitter, umami, liquorice, peppery spice, leather, tannin, burnt stuff, cereal with a drying and peppery finish. Medium body and soft carbonation.. Chewy, bitter and spice. Fair.

21/7/2018. Cask at the Heart of Northumberland, Hexham. Pours slightly hazy mid amber colour with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, biscuit, hop, flowers and fruit. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Medium body, slight creamy texture, soft carbonation. Nice level of bitterness developing in finish. Decent English IPA/Bitter.

Cask at the Rose & Crown, Sandhurst. Amber with a thin white head; floral aroma; grainy body with a floral taste, and a pleasant straw-like bitterness, with a hint of meon and some spice to finish. A nicely drinkable light bitter.

Gravity dispense at the Happy Man Spring BF, 14/03/14. Mahogany brown with a moderate off white covering of bubbles. Nose is candied sugars, caramel, brown bread, light trace of vanilla. Taste comprises toffee, bready malt, biscuit, faint cocoa, earthy. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Ok bitter.

Cask at Ye Olde Starre Inn, York. Pours hazy pale gold, thin white head. Sweet fruit aromas, sweet caramel taste. Not my thing.

Cask @ Market Porter, Borough SE1. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty spicy aroma. Fruity malty spicy caramel weak sour herbal flavor. Has a fruity malty spicy caramel finish.
