Description
In 1992, in deepest Hexhamshire, Northumberland’s oldest brewery was formed, with one clear mission: to create wonderful beers using traditional methods and simple, high quality and locally sourced ingredients.
A small range of beers are brewed at any one time; a core selection of firm favourites surrounded by several seasonal ales and specially commissioned and bespoke brews.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2012, Great British Beer Festival, London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX.Clear medium yellow orange colour with a small, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, toasted - caramel, butter. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration, buttery, malty. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. On gravity at the Gryphon, Bristol. Amber with a slight, off-white head. Sweet and fruity, with plenty of caramel and some leafy hops, before a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask@GBBF2012. Golden colour with small white head. aRoma is butter, some tartness, mild sulphur and rubber with some floral notes. Flavour is sweet malts, rather butter and some toffee. How can this be served at GBBF? Need to taste again, when found.

Cask @ GBBF 2011. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty sweetish chocolate aroma. Sweetish roasted malty thin chocoalte flavor. Has a roasted malty chooclate finish.

Cask at the GBBF. Black with a small off-white head. Fruity aroma with roasted malt and chocolate. Dry and thin roasted flavour with an ashy touch and an almost sour note from the roasted malt.

Cask at GBBF 2011, Day 3. Pours dark brown, slightly opaque, with an off-white head. Rish roast aroma, some cocoa in there. Mild sweet flavor, slightly tangy, good mocha notes. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Dry roast finish with some bitter earth and tobacco. Pretty nice stuff.

Cask @ GBBF 2011, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Clear dark brown colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is light heavy malty, roasted, wood - coffee, dried fruit, soy sauce notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, light salty. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20110802]
