Description
In 1992, in deepest Hexhamshire, Northumberland’s oldest brewery was formed, with one clear mission: to create wonderful beers using traditional methods and simple, high quality and locally sourced ingredients.

A small range of beers are brewed at any one time; a core selection of firm favourites surrounded by several seasonal ales and specially commissioned and bespoke brews.

Panda thanks to SHIG, split at the mini Tipple lockdown tasting, Hazlemere, 29/08/20. Chestnut brown with a decent khaki head. Nose is nutty, toffee, dried fruits, light spice. Taste comprises biscuit malt, brown bread, toffee, fruit slice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a modest bitter edge. Decent.

Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Aromas of custard, light biscuit, faint citrus. Taste is more of the same. Light bitter finish.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - golden with thin but attractive lacing. Nose - lemon, flowers and light custard note. Taste - more lemon and biscuits this time. Palate - light bodied, balanced bitterness. Overall - simple but well done!

Panda pop thanks to Shig, watching the first T20 vs Pakistan, 28/08/20. Light haze on a golden amber pour with a moderate white cap. Nose is dusty fruits, twiggy esters, straw, biscuit, light caramel. Taste comprises husky grains, dried fruits, bready malts, hint of tea leaf, grass. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a modest bitter edge. A touch on the basic side but sippable none the less.

Bottle shared with Grumbo: Poured a coppery orange with fluffy tan head. Aroma is light butter, caramel malts. Taste is light bitter, malty, caramel.

21/8/2020. Bottle from Northumbrian Gifts. Poured clear bright golden amber with a small bubbly/frothy white head. Aroma is stewed veg, earthy, margarine, herbs, flowers and gorse. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, average to soft carbonation. Looks great, but otherwise not keen.

21/8/2020. Bottle from Northumbrian Gifts. Poured clear dark amber with a small bubbly/frothy off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, toffee, touch of chocolate, charcoal and dried fruit. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium body, slight creamy texture, soft carbonation. Had a toasted bitter earthy finish. Looked really good. Quite drinkable overall.

21/8/2020. Bottle from Northumbrian Gifts. Pours clear bright amber/bronze with a small bubbly/frothy off-white head. Great looking beer. Aroma is toasted, toffee, fruit, berries, malt, biscuit. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium body, slight creamy texture, soft carbonation. Slight earthy bitter finish. Nice, and easily the best of the Hexhamshire beers we shared today.
