Description
In 1992, in deepest Hexhamshire, Northumberland’s oldest brewery was formed, with one clear mission: to create wonderful beers using traditional methods and simple, high quality and locally sourced ingredients.

A small range of beers are brewed at any one time; a core selection of firm favourites surrounded by several seasonal ales and specially commissioned and bespoke brews.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - dark amber to brown. Nose - chewy toffee and roast. Taste - roast, toffee and chewy caramel. Palate - medium, bodied and roasty dry. Overall - good.

Cask at GBBF '22 day 4, 05/08/22. Golden copper with a good sized white cap. Nose is biscuit malts, dried fruits, grains, brown bread. Taste comprises fruit esters, biscuit, straw, grains, bitter sweet. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with a light bitter edge. Decent enough bitter.

Bottle from Northumbrian Gifts. Pours clear golden with a thick white head. Aromas of orange and blossom, faint malt. Taste is bitter orange and biscuit. Green bitter finish.

10/7/2022. Bottle from Northumbrian Gifts. Pours clear bright straw gold with a small frothy white head. Aroma is sweet, hoppy, malty, caramel, citrus, stone fruits, buttery butterscotch notes. Quite sweet, with moderate fruity sweetness. Moderate body, oily watery mouthfeel, average carbonation. Slight veggie finish. Not bad.

Clear amber with a decent beige head. Nutty and malty. Light sweet fruits, touch of nuts and a clean light finish. Much lighter than the nose and appearance leads you to believe.

26/2/2022. Bottle shared with the ITFC boys at the Morecambe tasting. From Feral North Drinks, Alnwick. Pours bright golden amber with a small bubbly off-white head. Aroma is citrus, floral, straw, sweet malt, touch of herb. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Moderate body, slightly oily, average carbonation. Easy drinker.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - deep brown with an autumnal red note. Nose - toffee, nougat, spiced biscuit and general cakiness. Taste - cherry, herb, cakes and brown bread. Palate - medium bodied, sweet middle and roasty finish. Overall - good.
