About
The Brown Cow Brewery, run by Susan and Keith Simpson, was formed in July 1997. Their beers are well respected with real ale drinkers and the beers have won many awards at festivals throughout the country.

A renovated building behind the Simpson’s home (the former Brown Cow Inn) houses the six-barrel plant. Being a ‘cottage industry’ the beers are delivered direct from the brewery, ensuring a quality product and personal service.

First class ingredients are used – the finest quality malt from the well respected Yorkshire maltsters Thomas Fawcett’s, together with carefully selected hops from America, New Zealand, Europe and England.

Note: not to be confuses with Brown Cow Alchemy Brewery, North Piddle in Worcestershire.

Cask. Clear yellow with a white head. Citrus in the nose, berry-like - Nelson Sauvin? Light body, some fruit, fairly astringent, dry and sulphurous finish. 220110

Cask, gravity at The White Horse, Hedgerley, Bucks, 30.07.10 Very dark brown in colour, no head. There is plenty of demerara sugar on the nose along with some vanilla these combine marvllously both on the noes and in the mouth. There is a funky roasted bitterness, some almonds (well spotted Loz) Very nice drop. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Cask, gravity at The White Horse, Hedgerley, 18th ’Coming of Age’ Beer Festival 29-05-10 I’m not 100% sure of the abv of this beer but sure it was in the 4% range. This wasn’t really gold as the name had suggested, more light amber but wonderful colour and clarity. Sweet in mouth, some honey touch of bitter toffee, but its light toffee. Quite nice. Cask, gravity dispensed, at the Cambridge Beer Festival. A really tasty mild. Dark chestnut with a thin white head; roasted malt aroma with some chocolate; sweet roasted malt flavour; and a dry chocolate finish.
