Notes from January 2011 Bottle gifted to me by ljkeats & shamefully passed over for a few months till this years' Thanksgiving came up on the calendar. Poured heavy-handedly into a pint-sized crystal vase-like orifice in my grandmother's cabinet. A cascade of colorful fall leaves, maple & gold, move up the glass & settle into a thin cap of off-white head. Caramelized malt, roasted nuts, & granola sweeten up initial whiff, while a bit of wood & hay bitter it up a bit. Taste is a big spot of caramelized breakfast cereal, toffee, & maybe some black tea qualities. The hops are herbal, but mild to maybe moderate in strength. A half-sticky old ale is what comes to mind as I drink this. Though it contains much better carbonation & isn't as fruity. Finally noticed that it has that Sam Smith hard/minerally water thing going for it as well. Overall, pretty nice. A bit thick & a bit seasonal(& a bit confusing), but I enjoyed it. Thank you Jeff.

Notes from March 2011 Another throw in from the beer bandit. Bottled on 2/23/11. Unexpected, clear dark orange/amber brew into my Ommegang Anniversary glass. A mountain of lumpy cream-colored head. Blotchy lace. Smell is very green, like alfalfa pellets. Twiggy & just barely scented with sweet florals & graham crackers. Gentle pine resin, florals & earth all playing around in the taste. Dark bread crust, salt, & just a twinge of actual bitterness that lingers just a moment. A little juicy. Faint citrus. Some dank. Quite gentle. Body is a tad chalky. Carbonation is just okay. Alcohol is fine by me. Not at all thick. A dry-hopping clinic going on here. This stuff is tasty. :D

16oz can shared by tfontana, thanks Tom. Sampled blind….. Aroma is mild bourbon with a ton of oak. The says they used coffee. I can’t find the coffee any place in the flavor or aroma. Weak chocolate malt backbone. Very thin texture. Weak at best.

Can (12/15/23) pour from Andover Classic Wines. Opaque black with ring of head and no lacing, particulates at the bottom of the glass. Aroma is strong bourbon, sweet malt, oak. Taste is earthy malt, oak, lightly tart, bourbon. Smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. True, this is somewhat old but NO coffee, NO vanilla and weird tart quality. Not recommend.

Pours murky mango into a tulip. White head with good retention recedes to coat surface. Mango, pineapple and passion fruit aromas. Thick with passion fruit, mango and hot honey upfront turning to melon before the dry, lasting citrus peel finish.

Pours a nice light caramel from a can. Toffee aroma, a bit of unctuousness from the port, some hints of vanilla. Similar flavor, not overly sweet, rich, with a slightly bitter finish. Pretty good beer.

Brewery draught, 1/12/24. Clear, deep amber. Beige ring. Sweet maraschino and vanilla. Not tons of aroma. Oak. Bourbon spice, thin malt. Thin. Thin? Thin.

Brewery draught, 1/12/24. Clear dark amber. Thin, off-white head at cover. Cola, fruit, hops. Weird? Raspberry. Did they give me the wrong beer? I don't know. Definitely has raspberry. But she said it was the beer I'm rating. And they don't have raspberry beers on tap...

Brewery draught, 1/12/24. Clear, dark, small, tan head. Freshly emptied, oak-forward barrel with vanilla and light mousey lactose. Bourbon, tannin, chocolate, vanilla. Thin. Liquorous. Earthy, clean, dry, did I mention thin? But a good flavor, at least.
