I'm in New England, might as well open with an NEIPA. Hazy amber pour, thick, off-white head. Strong piney and tropical fruit nose. Taste brings in a lot of resin, nice chewy malts. Really enjoying this during first try at clam strips. Can't say a thing against it.

Bottled in Plymouth. Somewhat dark amber pour. Malty and choppy. Pretty decent brew...

Notes from August 2009 Bottle from a mixed six from PH Provisions on my way out of town at the end of June. Not feeling the promotional angle, but for the most part, I enjoy their brews. Pint glass pour. Half a glass of meringue head over a clear & deep chardonnay body. Smell has a heavy touch of clove upfront. Muddled lemon/banana phenols. The bready malt just hinting at the back. Taste is simple grain & salt. Cherry pits. Steely/herbal hops that linger just a bit. Cracker finish. Biting carbonation, dry, pils-like feel. Not really my thing, but a pretty clean brew. :)

Notes from August 2009 Part of a mixed six pack purchased from PH Provisions about two months ago. First beer I've actually purchased there, after usually walking out with food or nothing at all because of the prices. Pint glass pour. Dimpled/chunky, off-white head. Filtered lemon honey/copper body. Scents of bitter lemon/tangerine rind upfront, with a thought of granola & crackermeal rounding it out. Taste-wise, upfront is a slight doughy sweetness, but is quickly hit up with some green pepper/orange rind. Some casual cracker-ish malt in the middle, but the beer draws out & turns astringent with lots of dry & bitter wood & bark that I just don't want in this style of beer. Carbonation is high, the alcohol, though mild, only further detains its medicinal feel. Residuals flavors linger for a bit, but mostly just a mild cottonmouth effect. The summer rye was pretty good. I should probably review that next & save myself a beating from the overzealous locals.

Notes from August 2009 Growler shared at Captain Lawrence during the Cuvee release. What a nice breakfast spread that was. :P Into my trusty rounded mug. Faint apple juice color with a bit of haze. Big, boiled over white head. The carbonation tickling my nose, I got scents of dusty grain, moderate herbal bitterness, & an apparent tang that did deliver on the first sip. Taste was water-logged grain, a gentle sweetness that doesn't amount to much, crusty sourdough(that carries just a faint tartness), some traces of yeast, & a quick & sharp citrus zest that gives way to a more leafy idea. Feel is way over-carbonated, & just a touch itchy. Besides that though, not much in the way of residuals, as it leaves pretty dry. The thought of a quick second sip is waved in. Reminded me a lot of maybe Real Ale's Full Moon Pale Rye from Texas, just a little thinner though & maybe trying to be too brash in carbonation. Not as much flavor going on, but almost as easy to drink. :)

Notes from August 2009 I remember having this on cask last year. I think I wrote on my coaster big fruit & juicy. Obviously not enough material to write a review. So here we go. Last bottles from my Mayflower mixer. Twenty-four ounces, just to be sure. I missed dinner, those calories have to come from somewhere. :D Rounded pint glass pour. Chunky, yellowed head. Clear reddish/orange amber colored body. Sudsy, fat spiderweb lace. Smell is right upfront with pine. Down in front is watery melon, stale oregano, & okay malt which smells a whole lot like oatmeal. Taste is sharp caramel upfront, immediately bum-rushed by bittersweet pine resin. Grass & grapefruit rind peak through & keep it from becoming sticky. A little grain in between things, but not much. The pine rides straight through to the finish, where it gets a little harsh & medicinal with the ethanol. Carbonation could be better. The alcohol is a little stiff for just 7%. Lingering resin is a killer if you don't like it. No where close to what this can be on cask, but probably their second best year round offer behind the porter.

Notes from January 2011 Bottle gifted to me by ljkeats & shamefully passed over for a few months till this years' Thanksgiving came up on the calendar. Poured heavy-handedly into a pint-sized crystal vase-like orifice in my grandmother's cabinet. A cascade of colorful fall leaves, maple & gold, move up the glass & settle into a thin cap of off-white head. Caramelized malt, roasted nuts, & granola sweeten up initial whiff, while a bit of wood & hay bitter it up a bit. Taste is a big spot of caramelized breakfast cereal, toffee, & maybe some black tea qualities. The hops are herbal, but mild to maybe moderate in strength. A half-sticky old ale is what comes to mind as I drink this. Though it contains much better carbonation & isn't as fruity. Finally noticed that it has that Sam Smith hard/minerally water thing going for it as well. Overall, pretty nice. A bit thick & a bit seasonal(& a bit confusing), but I enjoyed it. Thank you Jeff.

Notes from March 2011 Another throw in from the beer bandit. Bottled on 2/23/11. Unexpected, clear dark orange/amber brew into my Ommegang Anniversary glass. A mountain of lumpy cream-colored head. Blotchy lace. Smell is very green, like alfalfa pellets. Twiggy & just barely scented with sweet florals & graham crackers. Gentle pine resin, florals & earth all playing around in the taste. Dark bread crust, salt, & just a twinge of actual bitterness that lingers just a moment. A little juicy. Faint citrus. Some dank. Quite gentle. Body is a tad chalky. Carbonation is just okay. Alcohol is fine by me. Not at all thick. A dry-hopping clinic going on here. This stuff is tasty. :D
