Description
Goose Island Beer Company began as a single brewpub opened in 1988 by John Hall. By 1995, John’s beer had become so popular that he decided to open a larger brewery, along with a bottling plant to keep up with demand. 1999 brought even more growth, along with an additional brewpub, and today, what was once one man’s pint-filled dream has become the Goose Island empire you know and love.

in 2011, Goose Island Beer Company was acquired by Anheuser-Busch InBev. Since then, we’ve continued to brew beer that we’re proud of and now we get to share these beers with our friends both nationwide and internationally.

Brownish-red tint with thin ring of lace - high, fizzy carbonation - this carbonation is soft on the palate, however - somewhat musty aroma, with notes of raisin, plum, apple, caramel, nutmeg - lightly spicy and fruity up front (mostly raisin and cherry) - sweet caramel and toffee show up late - long, sweet, belgian sugar finish - quite a solid ale that hides it abv well - the abbot it is named after should be proud.

2 years old, courtesy of Rastacouere!. Deep hazy brown orange ale with a thin creamy off-white head. Subdued resinous hop with sweet orange notes. Nice malt base with smooth herbal hops and nice alcohol vapours, oily mouthfeel, lingering bitterness in mouth, very smooth and blended. Wow!

Nothing is very belgian about this ale - it’s more like an Imperial IPA/lighter barleywine hybrid, but I won’t complain about this - some citrus in the aroma, with background honey, strawberry, a touch of melon - mild hops up front, with a lot of honey and grain in the middle, finishing with more bitter hops, a hint of peach and lingering honey - not true to style, but quite unique and tasty.

I was just in the midwest and, since this brewery was so ubiquitous, I pretty much passed it by for the more obscure beers - now that I can get it in NY, I figured I would give it a shot - I’m kind of sorry I didn’t get some more of their beer when I had the chance - strawberry blonde color with minimal head - aroma of pine, grapefruit and cedar chips - crisp and quite balanced - not very "heavy duty" compared to a lot of other IPAs, but it is a damn fine product.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pretty amber colour, slightly hazy with a small, white head. Lots of aroma hops in the nose. Quite full-bodied with a slightly sweetish caramel malt. Notes of somewhat over ripe - almost rotten - fruit. The aroma hops also leave quite a good bitterness. 180705

RBSG Typical of Imperial Stouts, this starts off with a fleeting head of light mocha over a big black oily looking body. Lots of raost malt in the aroma along with some alcohol or bourbon notes. There is a really good Imperial Stout in here, but the Bourbon is a bit too intense at this stage in it’s life for me. A bit of aging may move the bourbon thing a bit more to the back where it will be in better balance and bring this beer up in it’s ratings even further. If you really like the bourbon thing, it’s ready now.

Faint aroma of citrus. Slight grapefruit taste, a bit sour at first, then a bit bitter at the end. No one flavor overwhelms and overall fairly smooth. Poured cloudy yellow with thin white head that stuck around.

A hazy orange beer with a beutiful white head. The aroma is light - especially for an IPA - but there are some hops to be detected. The flavor is sweet grassy - quite nice - and with a dry end.

Pour is a nice hazy orange with almost no head. Aroma is a fine citrus-pine. Flavor is outstanding. Lots of grapefruit hops with a nice malty backbone. A very tasty IPA and at a reasonable price. Bottled or on tap this is a good one.
