About
UnBarred was established in 2014 from the shed of our founder and Head Brewer Jordan Mower. Born of a passion to brew uncompromising and exciting beer, our original flagship IPA won the Bev Robbins Award for the Best Sussex Beer in its first year of production. We soon outgrew the shed and moved onto gypsy brewing, enabling us to grow production and hone our craft, working together with other fabulous breweries.
Since establishing our taproom and brewery in the heart of Brighton in August 2019, we have doubled our production and embraced the Brighton community that we call home. Our core range is stocked nationwide, alongside ltd editions that embody the creativity, passion and freedom that have always defined our core ethos. We love to collaborate with other breweries that share those same values.
We’re inclusive, passionate and adventurous in everything we do, from our beer conception through to our design, brewing and welcoming taproom experience. To celebrate our roots, we love to work with local artists, independent businesses and fellow-creatives to showcase the best of the vibrant culture and boundless innovation of this beautiful city. We are UnBarred.
NB - UnBarred moved its keg and can production to a trade-only site on the Garcia Trading Estate in Worthing around March 2026. Address: Unit 6a, Garcia Trading Estate, Canterbury Road, Worthing, BN13 1AL.
Brighton retains active, on-site brewing operations. The space freed up by moving mass production to Worthing allowed them to expand the taproom seating while keeping the original kit to brew experimental, small-batch, and taproom-exclusive beers right in front of visitors.

Keg at the Craft Beer Shop Chesham, 02/06/23. Hazed light golden yellow with a decent white head. Nose is orange zest, melon, grass, soft tropical fruit esters. Taste comprises melon, papaya, tangerine, soft malts, grass, mixed tropical fruits. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close splashed with balanced light juicy hop bitterness. Passable pale ... if a little stuck in 3rd gear.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a dark reddish-brown with minimal off-white head. Malts are to the fore in the aroma, along with some hints of corn and chocolate. Malts are the mainstay in the mouth as well, plus dark fruits, cola, dandelion and burdock and hints of vanilla/ Finish is fruity and slightly dry. This is a decent mild.

On tap at The Craft Beer Co - Covent Garden, pours a clear pale amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out plenty of rum, bready malt, and brown sugar. Flavour is full of rum-soaked oak chips, dried dark fruits, and light booze. Actually pretty nicely done. The rum is not too overpowering. Decent.
