Description
8 Wired is a micro brewing company based in Warkworth, New Zealand.
Our mission is to produce mind blowing beers that will wow craft beer lovers, excite fellow beer geeks and educate the mis-guided who still believe that "beer is just beer". If you want to come on this journey with us, please get in touch.
8 Wired Brewing is inspired by the legendary Kiwi can-do mentality and fellow craft brewers who have dared to challenge the masses and show us all that beer is no longer “just beer”! Known for producing “New world interpretations of old world styles” 8 Wired have multiple shades of very hoppy IPAs, Saisons, Porters and Stouts in their permanent line up and have the biggest barrel aged and sour program in the southern hemisphere.
After 5 years of contract brewing, eventually at 4 different breweries across New Zealand we now finally have our very own brewery (In Warkworth, North of Auckland) where we brew and package everything.

From a 500ml bottle on 30/3/2011. Pours a very dark reddy brown with a big head. Has a lovely aroma of smoked meats, coffee and raisins. Tastes of roasted and burnt malt, and milk chocolate, with smokey flavours very prominent. Finishes with a nice, sharp and quite long hop finish. This is an excellent, complex porter.

500 ml bottle. Deep red, almost black body with a fine, dense beige head. A pleasant smoky aroma with dark malt and chocolate. Flavor is smoked malt, chocolate, berries, hint of bacon/ham and bitter. Well balanced in smoke and bitterness, distinct but not overwhelming. Relativity light body and smooth mount feel, quite quaffable actually.

Bottle at CPK, thanks to Ken. Clearish brown pour with a light film. Nose holds some dark sugar, lightly roasted malts. Nice flavor, good, light roast malts, some caramel, plum, mild smoke, salt and some smoked meats. Medium bodied wih average carbonation. A bit more smokiness in the finish, some brown sugar, dark malts, slight minerals. Very nice overall.

Bottle at CPK with Scopey, Mes and MadMitch. Clear, light brown-gold pour with a filmy head. Classic brown ale nose, lightly roasty and very malty. Alright flavor, light to medium in sweetness, with notes of faint roast and mild cocoa. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with light brown sugar, some cocoa malts, a bit of dryness. Some hops come through nicely in the finish as well. Good beer.

Bottle from Hi Time. Pours hazy amber with a bubbly/creamy beige head. Aroma of cat pee and tropical fruit? Near full bodied. Flavor is smooth creamy caramel, with astringency, and a lot of hop bitter. Kind of a butterscotch hint with strong citrus and floral/perfume. Which could be tropical fruits. It really puckers the mouth. And the hop seems to mutate from time to time. Floral. Citrus. Pineapple? Really great stuff. Brilliant in fact.
