Romney Marsh Brewery Ltd launched in May 2015 and the team consists of husband and wife Matt Calais and Cathy Koester and Matt’s dad Brian Calais.

Amber pour with a small white head, aromas of malt, hops, citrus and other fruit. Taste is similar with a citrussy, bitter aftertaste. Sessionable.

Cask at the Waterworks, Rye. Poured a very slightly hazy medium amber colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is malt, light toffee. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet with a smooth, rich malt, light citrus, hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask gravity I think at Made Inn Ashford. 4.5% black beer lasting tan head. dark brown. more of a dark ale than a porter or stout. some sour dark fruits. ok condition. fine.

3.8% cask handpull at The Wheel Westwell. Clear amber colour lasting white head. Not sure what flavour this is going for touch of diacetyl on aroma . good condition. some peach not for me.

3.8% ruby ale. On cask gravity at Made Inn Ashford. Some biscuit. Some ruby flavour. Good biscuit. Malty aroma. Light hops and jammy fruit. Sweetish. Good malty session bitter with some sweet jam fruits.good I thought. Good condition. Great bitter. Cracking condition. Worth the other half.

2/2/2019. Bottle from Flower Farm Shop, Godstone. Pours pale amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of malt, hops, caramel, citrus and light tropical fruit. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, average to soft carbonation. Bittersweet finish. Easy drinking, fair enough.

19/1/2019. Bottle from Flower Farm Shop, Godstone shared at the 2nd Kesgrave 50/50. Pours clear mid brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of ash, berries, malt, liquorice, fish, salt and chocolate. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, above average carbonation. Bit too fizzy. finish was fishy. Different.

15/10/2018. Bottle from Flower Farm Shop, Godstone. As Romney Marsh Gold 4.1% abv. Pours very slightly hazy golden with a small off-white head. Aroma of flowers, straw, fruit, hops and light caramel. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture, average to soft carbonation. Tasty brew, best I’ve had so far from Romney.

11/10/2018. Bottle from Flower Farm Shop, Godstone. 4.2% abv. Pours dark amber with an off-white head. Aroma of malt, toffee, nut, fruit, biscuit, bread and a hint of chocolate. Moderate sweetness, medium plus bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Slightly dry, sweeter finish. Not bad.
