Cask at Three Horseshoes, Hill Top, West Bromwich. Pours a slightly hazy golden orange with a small foamy almost white head and good lacing. There’s definitely plenty of yeast in the aroma, alongside malts and some hints of summer fruits. In the mouth it is sweet and malty, though some bitterness does creep in later. Flavour is crisp with and increasing amount of floral hops plus traces of marmalade leading to a dry and slightly bitter finish. This one is reasonable – it grows on you.

Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. Brownish gold and clear with a small off-white head. Light notes of toffee and marmalade in the aroma. Incredibly sweet taste, lots of toffee here with brown sugar and candied citrus. Basic body, a little oily, soft carbonation. A good beer but way too sweet (did I mention that?)
