Cask gravity at Nottingham BF 2007. Copper colour with thin bubbly off white head. Bit of tea and rubber on the aroma. OK in mouth and then this coppery almost metallic aggressive hop kicks in. Wakes your taste buds up. Bit too much maybe.

Cask conditioned at Oxford Beer Festival 12-10-07 Poured jet black, with tan head. aroma of coffee, some raisins and a hint of cocoa. this was rather intense in flavour loads of dark fruits vying for attention with some coffee and just about everything else that’s in there but like Doppelganger (previous rater) who I think is spot on, it’s just a bit too much it may well be better bottled and left to age for a while. It also pretty much knackered my next beer. Had this again In field at Towersey Festival, Oxon, w/e 20th-25th August 08 The strength is really quite apparent but there are plenty of hops and lovely roasted malts leap into the afray, some bitter coffee at rear of mouth, nice beer and I’ve upped the rating from 3.4 to 3.6.

Bottled
Amber color, no head. Clover, cold coffee/coffee powder aroma - strange. Attacking sweet-bitter hops, some diacetyl comes up in the finish. Long hoppy bitter aftertaste. Flat. Alcoholic, brandy-like notes. This bottle was infected or this is quite strange IIPA.

Cask/Gravity at The Swan Beer Festival, Islip 05-10-07 A stunning fruity hop nose that reached me before I’d even stuck my conk over it. the clarity and colour were excellent, nice mid-amber coloured beer. Initially ferociously bitter very much in a US style, crisp, fresh, snappy and with a bitterness that hangs on for an eternity. Loved this and came back for two more after my other beers.

Bottled. Near black. Striking roasty licorice aroma. Salty with solid, dense malt, notes of tar and coffee. Almost full bodied with tarry salty finish.

Bottle form Utobeer. Opaque black colour with a slight, tan head. Aroma of plain chocolate, liquorice and some roasted notes. Flavour had more chocolate and coffee. Very smooth drinking with a long bitter finish. Very good.

Bottle from Utobeer. Very pale gold colour with a slight off-white head. Hoppy aroma of citrus and grass. Flavour was pure hops with grapefruit and a slight hint of resin, and a very long bitter finish. Good, but a bit one dimensional.
