Description
Calvors Brewery was created in 2008 to brew proper English Lagers, without compromise! We have been crafting award-winning beers ever since, becoming known for our distinctive take on the much-celebrated lager styles of Europe. Sure, we're passionate about lager, but we also love a good ale and brew a growing selection of international styles. Calvors beers challenge the flavour and integrity of mass-produced brews and you won't find any of those nasty chemicals or preservatives. We brew by hand using only four ingredients: water, malt, hops and yeast.

Bottle at home in London, shared with Lyoli. Pours crystal clear, deep gold with a moderate, white head. Aroma has come bready malts, faint caramel and grape-like fruits. Medium sweet flavor, toasty bread malts, faint bitterness perhaps of leaves, caramel, sugar. Light bodied with average carbonation. Basic finish, toasty malts and sugar, caramel, mild bitterness. An easy drinking beer. Very basic overall. I like this stuff.

Bottle at home in London. Pours crystal clear pale gold, effervescent, with a moderate, pure white foam head. Some grainy malt in the nose, hints of sugar, light cereal. Not getting that pilsener zip I would hope for. Sweet flavor, plenty of cereal, very faint bitterness. Light bodied with high carbonation. Thereโ€™s a touch more hop bite in the finish, but itโ€™s pretty weak. A bit more sugar, cereal, hints of straw - which is good! - and just a nip of citrus zest. Not an excellent pilsener, but a good beer to drink for refreshment.

Bottle at the Calvors stand at the MasterChef Live Expo, London. Pours clear gold with a whispy, white head. Mild aroma, some faint cereal malts. Flavor is lightly sweet and fairly bland. Light dough, cereal, very faint bitterness, some sugar. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Malty finish, cereal, light grain, faint grass. Nothing wrong here, overall. Pretty easy to drink, if a bit basic in terms of character.

Bottle drank at home. Pours a burnt sienna colour with a quickly dissipating beige head. Raisins, caramel and toffee aromas. Toffee, butterscotch, some coffee and dark fruit notes. Dry, sweet finish. Not bad at all.
