Description
Calvors Brewery was created in 2008 to brew proper English Lagers, without compromise! We have been crafting award-winning beers ever since, becoming known for our distinctive take on the much-celebrated lager styles of Europe. Sure, we're passionate about lager, but we also love a good ale and brew a growing selection of international styles. Calvors beers challenge the flavour and integrity of mass-produced brews and you won't find any of those nasty chemicals or preservatives. We brew by hand using only four ingredients: water, malt, hops and yeast.

This rating system really conspires against a beer like this, but it is a success nonetheless. The taste is lead by bready malt, with grain and light caramel sweetness following soon there after. Elements are well balanced and round out nicely as the taste grows in your mouth. Better than the numbers show!

Bottle shared with and courtesy of Grumbo with ITFCDan. Aroma of mango, peach, pineapple and tropical fruits. Very fruity finish with fine carbonation. Enjoyed this.

Shared with and courtesy of Grumbo with ITFCDan. Aroma of fruit, toffee, raisins and dried fruit. Taste is like jam, fruity, almost like a sour. Not sure it is supposed to be like that.

330ml can. Lightly cloudy, small white head, reasonable retention. Aroma of citrus and pine resin. Orange piney bittersweet malty grainy beer - yes one of them. Medium body. Its ok but there is a limit to its enjoyment.

330ml can. Pours a light cloudy orange-gold, small white head. Citrus and malt bittersweet aroma. Orange and lime citrus notes, quite sour, grains, very bitter and tangy in the finish. Not exactly well crafted this one. Like a punch in the face it wakes you up an you feel alive but you wouldn't want another one.

330ml can. Golden Amber, small off white head, minor retention. Aroma of nuts, malts, cereals. Taste is sweet, toasted malts, cheap chocolate, plenty of nuts. Light to moderate body. Its ok.

330ml can. Clear gold, small white head, average retention. Aroma is sweet and quite grainy, slight hint of grass. Taste is also grainy and sweet, lightly herbal with a long dry bitter finish that creeps up on you. Not really clean and crisp like a a great Pilsner but I like the down to earth nature of this brew. Its more balanced than their Session and Diversion IPAs.

330ml can. Clear light gold, moderate sized white head which dissipates quickly.. Aroma of grains and a light citrus note. Taste is semi-sweet, grainy, biscuit, a light citrus hit with a mild bitter finish. Light bodied, refreshing, moderate carbonation. Pleasant if a bit dull.

330ml can. Clear bright gold pour, moderate loose white head but keeps a decent retention. Aroma is grains, pine, stone fruits. Taste is hoppy notes of citrus and apricot, biscuit malts, that classic Calvors bitter pine resin (but not too much here), quite sweet. Light to medium bodied, oily. Not a bad lager this one.

330ml can from Chester Beer & Wines webshop. Cloudy mahogany with small beige head. Aroma of sweet toffee apples, bready malts, some grass. Taste is very tangy, almost a sour milk off-note, toffee apple, yeast, some background roastiness. Medium body and carbonation, slightly dry and oily at the end. It improved over time but its not that tasty for the style. It was only around the £3 mark for this Baltic Porter so often you get what you pay for.
