Description
In 1996 the first 2 beers were on tap at Lambrate brewpub, there were 3 owners and the brewhouse capacity was 150 litres per batch and the pub was opened few days a week. Today there are 5 owners and a considerable staff, plenty of beers are produced and the brewhouse capacity is increasing from 2000 litres to 4000 litres per batch. Alessandra, Fabio, Paolo, Davide and Giampaolo: everyone has a specific role in the company as administrators, head chefs, publicans, headbrewers.

Making craft beer is a time consuming but exciting process, which requires knowledge, passion, care and creativity. Everything is based on a constant research and selection of quality raw materials, then the brewers decide which beer will be produced in terms of style, taste, colour, abv, etc. After the recipe is designed, the brewing process can start. Malt is milled and it’s mixed with water in a process called “mash”. Next step is “lautering” and then “boiling”. Afterwards wort is cooled and moved to fermentation tanks where yeast is added. After 4-6 weeks beer is ready to be kegged or bottled. Every single process is under brewers control, supported by our chemical analysis laboratory. Currently our brewery can produce more than 4000 litres per day.

Draught, 8.0% at the brewpub. Malty and slightly yeasty aroma. Cloudy dark red amber colour. The flavour is quite yeasty in the right Belgian way. Sweet and alcoholic like it should be.

Draught, 6.8%. Hazy golden colour. Big stable bubbly white head. The flavour is slightly fruity... Slightly citric... Not very alcoholic. Only a hint of yeast. A bit boring I think, but quite clean.

Draught, 7.0% at the brewpub. Good fruity hop aroma. Cloudy amber colour. Big stable red tan head. Good mouthfeel. The flavour is nicely malty, good fruitiness, seems to come from the hops.

Draught, 6.8% at the brewpub. Good sweet and malty aroma. Smells like a good ESL. Cloudy copper colour. Good-looking big stable creamy tan head. The flavour is like a mediocre ESL. Of the malty and caramelly type, but a little too dry, I think. Still, malty and caramelly, and the alcohol is not too obvious.

Draught, 5.0% at the brewpub. Good roasted and creamy aroma, fresh coffee. Almost black colour, red shine. Beautiful, stable, creamy light brown head, almost looks like chocolate mousse. Good roasted flavour, hint of creamed coffee. A sour/citric note that I do not like much, either. A little smoke in the finish. A very nice beer, but I am slightly put off but the sourness. 7 4 6 3 10

Draught, 5.2% at the brewpub. OK banana aroma, hint of burnt rubber, but no more than many other Weizen. Cloudy orange colour. Big stable white head. Good sweetness in the flavour, some banana and a little clove. Better than many German wheat beers.

Draught, 4.8% at the brewpub. Weak citric aroma, more like pale lager than pale ale. Clear golden colour. Nice big stable white head. The flavour has a very mild fruitiness, probably from the yeast, and a little sweet, flowery fruitiness, probably from the hops. Very clean for an ale. A little yoghurt citric note in the finish, refreshing.

Handpumped, 4.8% at the brewpub. Good refreshing hoppiness in the aroma, grassy and caramelly. Almost clear amber colour. Stable white head. The flavour is hoppy, grassy and caramelly like the aroma. Not especially bitter.

Bottle from Birratrovo, Como
Dark brown color, almost black; generous head. Delicate dark caramel and chocolate aroma, with light fruity sourness, and light Belgian yeast touch. Good body strength; caramel and chocolate flavor, made more dynamic by a light sourness, with some bitter oranges and a light spicy touch at the end, elegant and not intrusive; it reminds me the candied orange peel coated in dark chocolate; some more roasted malt at the end, but still very balanced. Belgian style, quite complex. Very good.
