Description
Chalk Hill Brewery was formed in 1993 by Bill Thomas, Tiny Little and David Blake – a group of friends with a shared interest in sailing, and beer. It now stands as the longest running independent brewery in Norwich!

The brewery was named after the surrounding area which was previously known as Chalk Hill, and is now Rosary Road. The brewery is a custom built 15 barrel plant and brews a selection of permanent and seasonal real ales. The brewery supplies it’s beer to local pubs including The Coach and Horses which is on the same site as the brewery.

Clear dark golden color with a tan layer on top. Moderate intensity in the aroma. Medium body and a soft carbonation level. Decent bitterness. Caramel malty, grainy, a bit bready and herbal flavor.

[ As Chalk Hill Nectar For Norfolk ].Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, toffee, butterscotch. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, butterscotch, toffee, sweet malt, fruity notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20150803] 5-3-6-3-11

Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, tart berry - fruit, vinegar notes. Flavor is moderate sweet, light light acidic and light to moderate bitter with a average duration, tart berry sweet, caramel, vinegar, tart. Clear deep golden color with a white head. Mild intensity in the aroma. Medium light body and a soft carbonation level. Ok balance between sweetness and bitterness. Caramel malty, mild fruity and some toffee in the flavor. A bit better character than the usual suspect this one. Decent.

Cask ale, shared with friends at Coach & Horses in Norwich. Rosewood coloured body. Filmy layer, dotted spots on the glass. Aroma of dark malts, toffee and dough to the fore. Taste profile of dark dough, brown malts and a touch of apricot. Mid-sweet malty-fruity ending. Medium bodied. Likable (18.02.2017).

Cask ale, shared with friends at Coach & Horses in Norwich. Low beige head that laced well. Dark brown body. Malty smell with hints of berries. Mixed taste of dark malts and berry fruit. Ends with a slightly roasted touch. Just alright. (18.02.2017).

Cask ale at Coach & Horses in Norwich. Shared with friends. Pearl white head leaving solid lacing behind. Hazy apricot coloured body. Fresh smell of tropical fruits. Succulent taste profile of orange followed by bitter citrus peel towards the ending. Medium bodied. Refreshing and nice (18.02.2017).
