Cask at the Harwich & Parkeston Winter Ale Fextival 2017. Pours an attractive clear copper brown with a bubbly off-white head. Aroma of caramel, fruit, malt and hop. Medium plus sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Good beer.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Great Welsh Beer & Cider Festival, Cardiff 21/9/2017. Deep golden in colour with a tight, white, head. An easy drinking bitter, with a touch of floral hop, biscuity malts, some hedgerow fruits and a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

500ml bottle: BB Mar 2018. Bought at the brewery by a relation who’s dog I was looking after while they holiday’ed in Wales. Poured into an Abbot Ale badged glass tankard at home on 20th Aug 2017. Mahogany body, clear and clean looking, no head, even though I poured it robustly. Hedgerow fruits in the nose alongside a light maltiness. Taste same as the aroma, mild malty base with a red berry like flavour. Liked it.

Hand-pulled pint at The Glengower Hotel, Aberystwyth on 25th July 2017. Golden/amber pour, clean and clear: on top a smooth white blanket of foam that lasted and gave some decent lacing. Nice blend, mild fruity nose and a good malty backbone for the hops to balance out in the taste, to produce a semi-bitter finish.

Cask (gravity) @ NBF 2016 [ The 41th. Nottingham Beer Festival (The 9th Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival) ], Nottingham Castle, Friar Lane, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England NG1 6EB. [ As Harbwr Tenby Caldey Lollipop ].Clear medium yellow colour with a small to small average, frothy - fizzy and open, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, butterscotch. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, fruity malt, pale malt, butterscotch, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20161013] 5-3-6-3-12

Cask at the Royal Oak, Saundersfoot. Gold with a thick white head. Floral with citrus hints and a little butter. Grew on me.

Cask at the Royal Oak, Saundersfoot. Light amber with a thick white head. Sweet grapefruit and light pine with a moderate bitterness. Pretty drinkable, well balanced and fairly tasty. Easily the best of the brewery’s range.

Cask at The Buccaneer, Tenby. Amber with a white head. Chocolate and toffee with a little pine and orange but the flavours are light and the beer’s a bit watery. Disappointing.
