From tap. Pours hazy brown with a small off white head. Aroma is roasted malty, light chocolate. Fruity, roasted. Light bitter and lingering fruity hoppy. Bitter and crisp hops finish.

Draught. Reddish brown with a medium head. Aroma is forest fruit. Flavour is dry, tea like, long dry burnt base, not particularly fruity, a bit unusual but works for me.

Draught at Herman’s tap session. Caramel brown with a large off white head. Aroma is nut and toffee. Flavour is a bit thin, gentle malty caramel, second one tasted better, tastes like a Hops and Barley beer which are generally solid.

Draught at the brewpub on 20th Jan 2014, one of four beers (and a cider) on tap that day. Cloudy orange body with a large white head that fell away swiftly. Good aromas, the typical banana and vanilla smells I like to find in my Weizenbier. There were also yeast and cinnamon hints within the nose, very pleasant. The taste was again those usual flavours a fine Weizen gives you: vanilla, banana and yeasty. This is a bit sweeter than most I’ve tried (I’m no expert on the style) and that suited my taste buds nicely. Body was full and well carbonated, in fact the beer was just about right in every way.

Draught at the brewpub on 20th Jan 2014. Pours a very dark brown, almost black in fact, on top a tanned head. Slightly over roasted malts in the aroma, some coffee hints (which is why I thought their Coffee beer was this with added Coffee granules). Tasted fine, mild coffee notes within a rich malty flavour. Sweet and bitter moments in the mouth, interesting without being intriguing. Different and more than OK.

Draught in the Brewpub on 20th Jan 2014. Pours a misty yellow / orange colour with a full white crown. The nose was a blend of grassy notes, yeast and mild maltiness: the taste followed those lines too. This isn’t a crisp, clean tasting Pilsner, it’s got some flavour and attitude compared to most mass produced German Pilsners I’ve come across. Body depth was good, it wasn’t watery or weak feeling. The wife didn’t like hers very much, so I had some of that one as well.

Draught at the brewpub on 20th Jan 2014. Coffee, intense coffee throughout this brew. Dark brown with a tanned coffee froth on top. If you like coffee you’ll love this, if cold coffee is not your thing (think a Greek Frappe), keep away. Slight yeast and alcohol hints but it’s just like a Dunkel with coffee added, which I suspect it is!
