Description
Based in Aberdeenshire between the Cairngorm mountains and the North Sea, Burnside is an award winning, independent craft brewery. With the finest Scottish malt and mountain water, we’ve developed a range of craft and classic beers that are refreshing, subtle and unique.

All of our beers are brewed and clarified with purely time and temperature, so there’s no added substances used to filter them. That means they’re vegan friendly too. With our natural methods and premium Scottish ingredients, we are proud to produce craft beer with class.

500ml bottle from Aldi. Pours hazy gold with a thick but short-lived white head. Aromas of banana and clove. Taste is banana bread, spice, faint orange. Light sweet finish. Decent.

Cask at the Paisley Beer Festival 2016. Pours hazy amber with a thin white head. Aromas of faint toffee, spice. Taste is light cinnamon, building down the glass. Spice finish.

Bottle from Fountainhall Wines, Stonehaven. It pours cloudy orange with a decent fluffy white head. The aroma is earthy, musty, barnyard, tangy fruits, orange, cracker and clove. The taste is crisp, bitter, creamy, straw, spice, green banana, orange, citrus peel and hint of acidity with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Pretty good go at a hefe.

Bottle from Fountainhall Wines, Stonehaven. It pours clear dark amber with a small, foamy white head. The aroma is earthy, woody, burnt fruit cake, leather, caramel and dirt. The taste is smooth, bitter, very wood, leather, toasted grain, earth, cardboard, citrus peel and dull caramel with a dry, woody finish. Light body and soft carbonation. A fairly standard bitter. OK, but far from a game-changer...
