Cask at t Grill, Aberdeen. It pours darkest brown with a thick and frothy khaki head. The aroma is soft, sweetish, dried fruits, toasted fruit cake, dark roasted malt, raisin, fig, plum, cacao nibs, coffee grounds and a touch of festive spice. The taste is firmly dry roasted malt, bitter - sweet character, umami, liquorice root, angelica, festive spice, fragrant, cacao nibs, charcoal, burnt toast and toasted fruit cake with a drying, bitter finish. Average body and moderate cask carbonation. Works rather well. I'm always disappointed by the lack of local dark cask beer, so this is a welcome surprise.

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours clear blush with a nice white head. The aroma is fresh, clean, bright, real strawberry and raspberry, summer fruits, soft doughy white bread and biscuit. The taste is crisp, dry, bitter - sweet character, juicy, bright, fragrant strawberry, raspberry, raspberry leaf tea, dull tannin, grass, white bread and cracker with a dry, slightly bitter tea like finish. Average body and fluffy carbonation. I like the real fruit character. Vey like raspberry leaf tea on the taste.

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours turbo cloudy milky purple with a thick, foamy/bubbly off - white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, juicy, ripe purple fruits & berries, purple chewits, bramble jam, bready malt, victoria sponge cake, touch of greenness and stone fruits. The taste is drying, slightly bitter, green, weedy, garlicky vibe, touch raw, piney even, then it's tangy, slight tart, bramble, blueberry, plum compote, jam sandwich, fruit smoothie, slightly soapy and hint of acidity with a drying, green veg finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Some nice elements to this, but the fruit and the base beer clash quite a lot. Not for me.

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours hazy golden - blonde with a a bubbly white head. The aroma is fresh, big hit of hoppage, green, sappy, fresh pine, pithy, zesty, lemony, grapefruit, pomelo and some bread. The taste is dry, pleasing bitterness which lingers, green, weedy, pine needles, pithy, zesty, lemon, pomelo, grapefruit, peppery spice, floury bread, and some leafiness with a drying finish. Medium body and soft, but supporting carbonation. It's actually a very nice IPL. Wasn't expecting the big hit of hops (despite the name).

Keg at MSBH. It pours jet black with a medium fluffy light tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, sappy, resinous, vanilla fudge, cake frosting, liquorice, rocky road fried fruits, cherry, chocolate and toasted marshmallow. The taste is slick, oily, rich roasted malt, bitter - sweet, meaty, charred, umami, burnt toffee, peppery spice, bonfire plastic, warming whisky, liquorice, rocky road and booze with a drying, charred finish. Fulsome body and fine, foamy carbonation. Intense. I would say aroma is amazing, taste is more unbalanced.
