Bottle from Deeside Drinks Emporium. It pours very dark brown with a small beige head. The nose is rich roasted malt, coffee, liquorice, bitter chocolate and a hint of parmesan cheese in the background. The taste is roasted malt, bitter chocolate, coffee, ash, liquorice, faint acidity and earth with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body, low carbonation and soft mouth-feel. Good flavour and balance. Definitely my favourite Burnside to date. A step in the right direction.

Pigs Ear. The Long Good Friday teamed up with ChrisO. Hazy deep amber beer. Suddy pale tan head. Light dry palate. Sweetish dry malt, trace of nuts. Tangy dried fruit hops. A little sulphur. Dry finish. Dry and dull.

Aroma - Burnt roast malts, yeast, ashy, burnt wood
Taste - Roasted malts, burnt notes, yeast, thin coffee, ashy
Palate - medium carb, thin body, texture little oily, too fizzy. Finish - dry bitter roasted malts, yeast
Overall - Rather too dry, thin and fizzy. Maybe is better on cask

Aroma: Weak aroma of wood, dark fruits and wet straw.
Appearance: Clear amber body with a small white head. Very light carbonation. Slight lacing.
Taste: Caramel and leather flavours with a sharp, bitter finish. Not very interesting.
Palate: Thin body with an oily texture. Soft carbonation.
Overall: A bit bland and dull. I wouldn’t want to drink more than one in a sitting.

Aroma: Toffee, leather, grass and red fruits.
Appearance: Dark ruby/amber body with a medium off-white head. Average carbonation. Lots of lacing.
Taste: Caramel and dark fruit. Very tangy and bitter.
Palate: Thin body with a slick, oily mouthfeel. Flat carbonation.
Overall: Not my favourite beer style, but this is pretty tasty. It’s just a bit on the thin side.

Taste: Earthy flavours dominate but there’s also a tangy fruit character that’s not too sharp. Crisp, peppery finish.
Palate: Thin to medium body with a light, oily texture. Nice fizz on the tongue.
Overall: Light and refreshing, but not the most interesting or moreish.

The taste is straw, zesty citrus fruit, soap, wheat, light spice and floral notes, with a crisp, dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A decent drinkable golden ale.

Cask at the Grill, Aberdeen. It pours deep brown, with a bubbly off-white head. The nose is roasted malt, nut and a touch of chocolate. The taste is much the same - roast, chocolate, nut and weak coffee, with a dry finish. Thin body and soft carbonation. Straightforward and fairly unexciting, but there is nothing wrong with it.

Cask at The Grill, Aberdeen. Dark brown pour with a small, bubbly tan head. A bit of roasty toast in the nose. Light some flavor, kind of roasty, some burnt leaves, bitter cocoa. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Dry, bitter cocoa finish with lingering dry roast and burnt toast. So so.

Cask at the Moorings, Aberdeen. It pours golden yellow, with a thick white head. The nose is farmyard, honey, mature cheddar, hay and yeast. The taste is hay, straw, grass, dried apricot, golden syrup, honey, yeast and citrus rind, with a big dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Not bad.
