Bottled @ de Molen, small sample. Slight hazy golden to orange color, short head. Aroma of some belgian yeast spiciness, slight flowery hop, bit caramel, some alcohol. Quite sweet in taste, some alcohol. Meh, not bad, but not a great addition either.

(Bottle, In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 27 July 2013) Amber colour, slightly hazy, with frothy off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with citrus, grapefruit, orange peel, a slightly metallic malt character and spicy hops. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of citrus, grapefruit, crisp-bread and a dry finish with a generous resinous bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty and well made. Nice one.

Bottle, 6%. Yeasty aroma, malty and semi-refreshing, sweetish with a little booze. Slightly hazy golden colour. Good stable off-white head. The flavour is bitter and yeasty. The bitterness is a little high and quite rough. Good mouthfeel. Has a fine floral hoppiness, or perhaps it is a faint spiciness in the finish. I did not like it much at first, but it became better with each sip.

Bottle. Pours clear golden with stable off-white head. Clear aroma of fruit, flowers and malt with notes of alcohol. Bitter, hoppy flavour with pronounced notes of fruit and malt. Bitter finish. OK although the aftertaste is rather too bitter.

Bottle at Dean’s Birthday Tasting, August 2013. Poured a deep lifeless mahogany with a round glass hugging head. The aroma is rich earthy peat. The flavour is strong bitter with loads of liqourice, fruit and alcohol on the palate.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a clear dark chesnut brown with a thin off-white head and no lace. The aroma is yeasty with some citrus notes. The flavour is medium bitter, with lots of liqourice, yeast and red-berry fruit on the smooth alcoholic bitter palate which lingers well into the finish. I like this, but I feel it may be more suited to the local taste.

33cl Bottle at home. Hazy orange/amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of amber malts, toffee, light spicy, fruity. Flavour is medium-sweet, malty, spicy, yeast, fruity, good grassy bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Decent stuff.

33cl Bottle at BT brewpub opening. Black colour, thin brown head. Aroma of lots of peat (75% peat-smoked malt!), hard roasted malt, earth, liquorice root, hint if chocolate, tar. Flavour is ashy, peaty, tar, liquorice, some chocolate and coffee, ashy bitter finish. Sticky mouthfeel, full-bodied. Nice, but lacks some depth of flavour.
