Description
Artisanally brewed in Amsterdam since 2011.

Combining influences from the rich European beer culture with a non-conformist attitude.

From a family heritage of Swedish farm brewers and trained by the masters of ale and porter in England, we ended up in the Netherlands to create our own microcosm in the world of beer.

Inspired by the lesser known sides of European brewing culture and devoted to uncommon artisanal techniques, Butcher's Tears makes distinctive beers that progress beyond fashion and convention.

33 cl bottle @ home. Ruby color, hazy. Big, dense off white head with long retention. Strong aroma’s of red/sweet fruit, (rasp-?/straw-?)berries. Retronasal there’s still fruit, but also some caramel and hops. Flavor is medium bitter with a malty sweet backbone. Medium bodied. Finishes roasted and quite bitter. Nice enough, but the fruit aroma was a bit off.

Bottle shared at home. Pours hazy golden with a bubbly white head. Aroma of cereal, corn, fruits. Flavor is light sweet and bitter but going into an unpleasant heavy bitter bite in the finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A very unbalanced and confused beer.

33cl bottle shared with kermis. Thick creamy white head. Hazy golden blond pour. A bit too bitter for a pale ale. Ive had much better beers in this style. Metallic finish.

Bottle sample @ ZBF’13 shared with the RB Belgian crew.

Small whitish head leaving lacerings; fully hazy orange-amber beer. Hops - crude EU hops, in serious doses. Old bread. Again oxydation in the flaovur, old bread, oxydized hops, short of cheesy. Quite slick, meidum bodied, well carbonated feel. Disappointing. If one aspires to make IPA, use real IPA hops, not bl**din Be bittering hops.

33 cl. bottle sampled @ ZBF 2013 where it was sold as an IPA. Hazy orange with a creamy white head. Nose is a bit stale, light hops, touch fruit, light sweet BE yeast, hint of spice and dust,… Taste is equally lightly dusty and stale, bitter herbs and grass, light hops, bitter floral and lighter sweet BE yeast,… Body is reasonable but carb. Is touch too low. Its okay.

Little cloudy orange beer, big irregular yellowish head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: fruity, grains, bit grassy, weird. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: some citrus, little bitter, yeast, grassy touch. Aftertaste: bitter, metallic, bit medicinal, lots of grapefruit.
