Cask-conditioned at some pub in Sheffield, 2/12/2014. Mahogany in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Sugary sweetness, followed by plum fruit with a slightly vinous edge, which faded away to a gentle finish. Unusual and drinkable.

Cask gravity at Pig’s Ear 2014. It pours darkest brown with a tiny white head. The nose is soft, roasty, chocolate, salted caramel, hot cocoa and earth. The taste is bitter-sweet, roasted malt, earthy, good bitterness, wood, tar, dried leaves, leather and cocoa with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A quaffable porter says me.

Pigs Ear. Hazy (fail no 1) gold beer with a little white head. Palate starts smooth but has a light crispness on the back end. Minerals. Light appley fruits, a little tired (fail no 2). So this boastfully titled beer fails on both accounts!
