Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 14th December 2010. Pungent aroma and spiciness. Fruity and floral hop in-mouth and a berry fruit finish on a light mouthfeel.

Draft at the Euston Tap. Pours clearish, dark amber with a frothy head. Malty aroma with some organic grains, light berries and earthy grass. Lightly sweet, lightly doughy malts, some odd butterscotch or something, maybe nuts, with some herbal bitters. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Finishes with lingering, mildly astringent hops, light bread and faint spiciness. About average.

Bottle bought from the brewery’s stall at Bristol Christmas market. Dark, ruddy brown in colour, with a decent tan head. Big aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts and a touch of prune, with the Belgian yeast character also evident. Flavour had more of the same, with candy sugar notes and plenty of sweetish chocolate and fruit, before a bitter, hoppy finish. Belgian character was prominent throughout and made this an unusual and very enjoyable beer. Bristol Beer Factory, like Arbor, has greatly improved the quality of its products in 2010 - Bath Ales take note! [4.3] Rerate: cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol 21/04/2011. Dark brown with a decent, off-white head. Lighter bodied than the bottled version, with the aroma less prominent. Chocolate and yeast character were more subdued. Still enjoyable though [3.7]

Bottle bought from the brewery’s stall at the Bristol Christmas market. Hazy gold in colour with a big, billowy white head. Lemiony, citrus aroma with some sweetness and grain. Easy, light drinking, with plenty more citrus, a touch of banana and spice and a dryish finish. An enjoyable English take on the style.

14th December 2010. At the Euston Tap with Harrisoni. Clear dark brown beer. Nice creamy head, light tan. Remarkably light airy palate, dry. Very mild dark malt with a little tiny bit of fruit in the undertone. Minerally dry finish. Probably the lightest fluffiest stout I’ve had!

500ml Bottle - Amber/copper with a slight haze. Passion fruit, lychee and peach in the aroma. Hoppy and bitter taste with tangy grapefruit, biscuity malt, peach and toffee. Really enjoyable and impressive.

Cask at the Euston Tap. Opaque brown pour with a thick, light brown head. Dark, lightly roasted chocolate malts and strong Belgian yeast in the aroma. Very sweet, lots of caramel and Belgian candi, light malts and roast, very modest bitterness. Medium to full in body with average carbonation. Some chocolate syrup, sweet toast and further Belgian character to finish. Has some attributes of a dubbel. Really awesome.

Cask at the Euston Tap. Pours a mostly clear orange amber with a small, white head, bubbly and filmy. Malty aroma with pine trees and earth. Decent flavor, some sharp bread notes, light honey, pine and grapefruit. Light bodied with fine, fairly tingly carbonation. Bready malt finish with good hops, of the pine and citrus rind variety, that linger in the mouth. Dries out well. Pretty good beer overall.

Cask at the Euston Tap. Pours rich, orange-gold with a dense, white cream head. Strong and dynamic hop aroma, with wet, dank grass, resiny pine, and citrus rind, along with subtle caramel notes. Lightly sweet with toasty malts and honey, then very bitter with more pine, dirty earth, and grass. Medium bodied with fine, ultra-smooth carbonation. Finishes with just light sweetness and dank, sticky and earthy hops that linger forever. Really, the bitterness coats the throat. Really good with some nice thrust from the relatively high ABV. Well done Bristol Beer Factory, well done.

Cask air pressure Euston Tap. Black dark brown edges. Lovely juicy roast choc. Very good just there is this odd cardboard hint on the swallow. Good beer though choc full of flavour.
