Latest news November 2020:
The situation is complex, but it seems that there were two separate companies, one for brewing and one for the bar business. Both hit financial trouble, and the brewing company went into administration. Truman's, needing a new site due to delays with their new brewery, are currently brewing in Crate's old brewing space. But the website is still online and Crate beers are still available...

Can at home in Hackney - picked up at an offie near Dalston Junction. Pours clear yellow-gold, lightly effervescent, with a creamy, white head. Quite tart and refreshing, nice lemony acidity, some salt. Light bodied with active carbonation. Clean, tart and dry on the finish, more quenching acidity, lemon, nips of grapefruit pith, more salty bite. Really drinkable, really enjoyable.

[33cl can from Tesco, Amersham.] A hazy amber pour with a loose white head; citrus aroma; grapefruit taste with a grainy body; and a sustained bitter finish. Pleasant enough, but nothing to make me want another.

Cask at Pigs Ear 2018 - London. Day 1. Pours black-brown with a creamy beige head. Eh, not the best, not very cohesive. Some chalky cocoa, scorched earth, hints of orange rind. Medium bodied, silky, with fine carbonation. Some dry and ashy roast in the finish. So so.
