Bottle at home. Dark brown to black color, average sized brown colored head. Smell and taste malts, dark malts, roast and some smoke. Firm malt bitters and lightly liquor. Mwah, drinkable but not great.

De Poes Foncée, Fläschchen von Jef - danke schön! - Tiefdunkel, fast schwarz; dunkelbeigefarbener Schaum. The first in what is intended to become a series of barrel aged variations on De Poes Stowt, in this case bourbon (with only 300 bottles available apparently). Moussy, shred-lacing, pale greyish beige, slowly receding and breaking head, very dark chocolate brown robe - approaching black but not quite, with copper red glow. Aroma of caramel candy, old wood, 'Koetjesreep', toffee, 'boerenjongens', medlar, fig compote, marmite, biltong or even gravy but not too strongly so, old 'jenever' more than bourbon, cold coffee, horse steak, liquorice, thyme. Sweet onset with umami edge, dried fig, medlar and dried blueberry aspects, quite sleek, with hints of beef stock and gravy; medium carb, supple but oily mouthfeel. Pecan-nutty, hard-caramelly and slightly chocolatey malts with a coffeeish bitter edge, a tad creamy as well, adding oaky vanillin accents and drying tannins but softly so, before a herbal hop bitter accent and warming, spicy alcohol set in, the latter indeed (finally) unveiling a certain bourbon character, but still reminiscent of 'oude graanjenever' as well. Caramelly and nutty sweetishness linger on, as does this roasty coffee bitter accent. Remains rounded and soft from beginning to end (like the regular Stowt) but I must admit that I was expecting a lot less from this barrel aged version; it is a welcome distraction from all those overwhelming barrel aged imperial stouts in its relative restraint, roundness and drinkability. Good enough to keep following up any further variants.

Appearance: foggy chestnut brown with a huge off-white frothy head of good retention. Aroma and taste: dark malt, bread, fried fruits, iron, grassy hop. Light sweet and bitter. Mouth feel: medium plus body, lively carbonation. Summary: too expensive for what it is.

Bottle - enormous thanks Riba! Murky dark yellow body. Interesting aroma, tart fruit juice - pear and peach. Sweetish, smooth malty taste, dusty, peach juice - definitely gusti sok. Not my favorite beer ever, but remarkably different - even among Belgians - and, in a way, nice, kinda making normally not that great notes make sense together with the fruitiness. 6/7/7/6/7 19.1.2019 (11:21)
Bottled (De Poes Blond), enormous thanks... Per I guess? Shared with Ogi and Hrabren. Slightly hazy golden body, off-white head. Pleasant orange, some spicy, herbal notes, peachy touches. Soft, sweetish taste, creamy, spicy, light hoppiness, caramelly, very much so. Good strong pale Belgian.
