Can picked up from Drankgigant.nl webshop, Vlissingen, Netherlands and consumed at home Sunday 1st February 2026 after a lovely loop walk to Brotjackelreigel and beer (or two) in the tower. We've got Chicken Meatballs with Orzo for tea tonight. Pours hazy light silvery/gold with a mid sized white head. Nice soft mouthfeel. After the SN Torpedo and the Pomona Island 'What the Dormouse Said', this is definitely more in Torpedo territory, lovely resinous touches throughout, nice malty underbelly but a big hoppiness, it's a lovely, lovely beer reminds me a lot of a classic big West Coast IPA. Score 8.0

We've got Chicken Meatballs with Orzo for tea tonight. Pours hazy yellow with a mid/large white head, nice fizz on the tongue, hoppy nose, easy drinking pale ale, I like it more than Loz but tbf Loz actually wanted a Duvel Tripel Hop so perhaps wanted something a little more in yer' face. Nice soft mouthfeel, great hoppiness, juicy I like it. Score 7.5

750ml bottle that I've had for probably two years at least, cannot even recall where I picked this up from. Had this Friday 30th January 2026 after a lovely Prawn Masala for tea and excellent Indian Side dishes from Loz, we're listening to 6Music all night. Pours black with a large beige head. Nose offers up chocolate and also Christmas spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. Nice mouthfeel, smooth, creamy and thick though not too oily thick. Tastes great all of the aforementioned shine in the flavour department, it's a very nice imperial stout, it's not too sweet but I think think that the cinnamon is a bit too heavy.

Can picked up from Lidl and consumed at home Thursday 29th January 2026 listening to ByteFM and after a Chinese Stir Fry and Pork Fried Rice for tea. Pours black with a large beige head. In terms of flavour and also aroma, it hits the usual Imperial Stout objectives of being chocolate, coffee, roasty, smooth and creamy in the mouth, for the price it's absolutely fine and a tick, however it's clearly cheap and cheerful with few elevating qualities. It's fine.

We (me and Loz) visited here Friday 23rd January 2026, we were in Berlin for the weekend with Nick, Anna, Charlie, Sarah, Honey and Ryan, however this was a sneaky visit to a place without them as they were not due to arrive until much later this afternoon/early evening. We got here for opening time, so 1pm though we had to knock the shutter door to attract attention as they were running late. The guy who served us was from Middlesbrough in the UK and was good fun.
The venue is about 20-25 mins from Berlin Hbf via an S-Bahn then quick change to U-Bahn but yeah more straightforward than I expected. It is a very large place, new'ish' I would say and quite big. As you enter from the door on the corner there are a few makeshift loungers, chairs, tables, sort of rustic and with a pallet style build as I recall. Btw meant to say it is step free access. The small bar with two draft offerings is opposite to the left on the small bar/serving area, there are two beer fridges to the left. All of the new 'non' standard range are there, apparently they brew enough for 2,000 cans of every new beer and then that is it, plus of course the core range are also available. We had to wait for about 45 mins before the draft options were available/
The focus is definitely on NEIPAs, NEDIPAs etc so expect a lot of modern hazy/murky beers and okay whilst this is not my favourite style they were all incredibly fresh, with one apparently only about a week since canned and despite being a little bit in yer' face i.e. aggressive, I did really like them, Loz liked them even more and really misses her IPAs. We were first here, followed by a couple in there 30's who had just moved into a large unit next door or very close by, they seemed to be super excited that this was now a neighbour, then came 3-4 young lads, one who was rolling up a huge fat joint to smoke outside and was uninterested in beer whilst his mates seemed quite keen on the beer. Then a couple our age or a little older who were waiting for the keg offerings to become available.
We really liked it, the brewery is visible from where you ae seated but there is nothing stopping you from taking a closer look, toilets are around underneath the offices. In the summer they put out tables and chairs outside. It is a nice place, very welcoming, nice vibe, relaxed, chilled maybe a little bit too cool for this time of year but we were well wrapped up. We would definitely return.

We visited here Saturday 10th January 2026. Much like the already rated Oedipus which has also moved since our last visit, we visited the previous Walhalla venue back in 2019? we went there with Bob and Claire and like Oedipus we simply wanted to revisit the area and both of these bars, albeit their new locations. As I already mentioned in my rating for Lowlander and Oedipus, it really was treacherous today and so I will have another rant at the local authorities for their complete disregard for pedestrians when it comes to keeping footpaths clean, which they didn't, grr really dangerous and particularly annoying as many of the cycle paths and all of the roads were clear of ice and snow.
Okay rant over lets move onto the venue. It is located in Noord Amsterdam over the other side of the Ij, a 5 minute free ferry ride and you're over and then maybe a 12-15 mins walk, of course we were doing it differently as we'd been to Lowlander then Oedipus and finally here, which is very doable but whilst this used to be super close to Oedipus it is a walk now of about 10-15 mins. It appears to be on a bus route with the bus stopping directly outside and there is plenty of new builds, such as apartments and small retail units underneath being built. It is in a good location and I think one that will serve them well for the future and despite being the smallest of the aforementioned places it was by some margin the busiest. You enter from a corner, I think that is roughly L shaped the bar runs along a back wall and the brewery is behind, mostly out of view but when you go to the toilets its partially viewable.
The guy serving was the only person on shift, he was very friendly, played some good music and seemed to like his job and just being a decent person, happy to chat. I was interested in the demographic here, there was a good mix including a table behind us mostly older women, in fact elderly women who were having a lovely time, drinking beer and other drinks and chatting with the barman, I think they really liked it, as did we.
Beer choice was good, mostly their own but with a few guest beers, we stayed here for 2 or 3 and took a couple of cans away with us. Of the three places visited today this was easily by some margin our favourite place, we would definitely return and wholeheartedly recommend it, yes I agree it doesn't look so interesting from the outside but inside it's fine, plenty of windows, a decent amount of seating and a nice crowd. Btw we had a small snack of cheese, it was a very generous portion, would also recommend that as more than enough for two to share.

We visited here Saturday 10th January 2026. We visited their previous venue back in 2019? we went there with Bob and Claire and wanted to revisit (albeit a new venue) to see what it was like. As I mentioned in my previous rating for Lowlander which we visited first and which is very close by the pavements were treacherous today, Amsterdam was very cold and with skating rink like icy conditions not much fun, we were at a complete loss as to why the authorities completely ignored clearing the ice in this area of Noord Amsterdam the pavements were shocking but the cycle paths and roads were mostly good.
The venue is a short walk from Lowlander and probably 15 minutes from Walhalla, re: the latter maybe a little less on better day than today. Regarding the venue appearance, there was a large courtyard area which looked a little sad in the depths of winter but that isn't really their fault, a lot of places look grim in the winter, I am sure would look great in the warmer months. Talking of warmer we really wished it would have been warmer, this was our one big criticism. The inside was very large, a lot of open space, sofas, leaners, brewing equipment visible, semi industrial look, kitchen off to the right as soon as you enter and the bar right ahead, but the cold was brutal and these type of places must be a struggle to keep warm in the winter.
The staff were quite young and very friendly. I got chatting to a female bartender from Essex who was super nice and chatty. The beer choice was good, I had a bock and Loz had an IPA, we would probably stayed for another but we just couldn't get warm and I would argue that we're quite used to the cold living where we do, but yeah it was cold in here.
All told a good sized venue, decent beer, decent staff and would make a good crawl with other venues over this side of the Ij (which we did today) but much like Lowlander it seems better suited to the warmer months.

Had this on tap at Furtnerbrau, Freising about 6-7 weeks ago and again today (bottle) I think that I picked these up in Äpfel Getrankemarkt Moosburg. Monday 26th January 2026, after a weekend away with Nick and Anna, Charlie, Sarah, Ryan and Honey in Berlin. Pours hazy yellow/gold with a large white head, clearly unfiltered, it's a bio product. Interestingly I found the draft version in Furtnerbrau Freising to be a little more rustic with a little nod to a barnyard, this seems not quite the same, though the aroma has a slight rustic edge. Nice mouthfeel, soft, decent carbonation, though this does drop off a little. Easy drinking a little bit of a herbal touch, hint of mint otherwise most of the Helles qualities are there, slight sweetness, hoppiness and bitterness both subtle. Not bad at all. Score 6.8
