Bottle picked up from Pivnica Medvedgrad Samoborska two weeks ago today. However we're back home today Friday 12th September 2025 after a six hour drive from Samobor nr Zagreb. Sat drinking this in the dining room listening to Emily Pilbeam sitting in for Nathan Shepherd on Indie Forever show 6Music. Back to the beer, wow 😲 this is a real old skool banger 💥 Impy', the looks, aroma, taste bang on. Pours pitch black with a slim off white creamy textured head. On the nose this is roasty from the off, fab' balance, roasty bitterness, there's a huge black treacle and molasses get together going on here, a little sticky and oily this is fabulous, wonderfully thick in the mouth. This is a real shocker didn't expect it to be such a big hitter, but fuck it hits the mark, no bollocksy adjuncts that I am aware of just a straight up big Impy.

We visited here Wednesday 10th September 2025 after a walk from Camp Vugec plac 2-3kms out of town. It truly was a shocker of a day weather wise, we'd headed up from the coast nr Šibenik to avoid the extreme rainfall warning so knew we'd get rain at some point. Scout Club is not far from the centre you cross a river on walk alongside it for a couple of minutes then at a busy road junction it's opposite, just set back a bit. There are some large conifer type trees immediately in front of the terrace which clearly provide some privacy and maybe some further protection from bad weather, however on the flipside they make it even darker, furthermore they totally obscure any view for those sat out here. Inside there is some compartment seating on the right hand side, we sat here opposite are some large fridges stocked with beer.

The young barman was very quick to serve us and not at all fussed when we said we needed more time to look through the beer bible (the choice must have run to 300-400). We both ordered a Nova Runda beer, unfortunately they didn't have mine or the other DIPA from Nova Runda he suggested instead, his fellow server had recently sold the last can, he brought over a Can from Garden which he indicated would be a good alternative, I had it and it was. Btw the Croatian craft beer choice here is very impressive. Interestingly there's a good selection from further afield with even Sierra Nevada Narwahl listed (I love that beer) and only €6-7 as I recall.

We decided to have another beer here but as the rain had stopped we opted to sit on the terrace. There were a number of seats taken and it's clear that this is a popular place, friendly, locals and other people just visiting for the first time like us. It is a friendly and welcoming place with a fantastic range of beer, btw even the Belgian selection ran to about 40-50 choices and of those in all the 250ml - 330ml only one was over €6, so extremely reasonable pricing. We liked it here, okay it's maybe a bit dark and the trees in front of the terrace is a bit odd but that aside if I lived close by I'd be a regular here.

We visited here Wednesday 10th September 2025 after a walk from Camp Vugec plac 2-3kms out of town. It was raining and had been raining extremely heavily so we weren't particularly surprised that it was quiet, in fact on closer inspection it was completely dead. Btw it's on the main street into town adjacent to a small bridge. Inside it was dark and smokey, which surprised us as there was no one else here. The young barman seemed completely disinterested and continued on his phone. In the absence of a beer card or menu I asked if there was a beer menu, he passed me one but this just showed four beers on draft nothing else, I asked if they had bottle beers, another menu was sought but the barman had absolutely no interest. This menu showed a far smaller beer choice than those id seen on Google reviews, and there really wasn't much to interest us. We sat for a while contemplating as to whether to choose a beer or go and opted for the latter. On a different day maybe we'd be happier to stay, but the key thing here was the complete disinterest the server had, he really wasn't at all bothered in us, and actually seemed fine when we decided not to stay. It's very rare that I rate somewhere without actually having a beer, but on this occasion I thought that I would.

Can picked up from Ambasada Zagreb and consumed sat outside Frank at Camp Vugec plac, nr Samobor the same day (later evening) Thursday 11th September 2025, after a day in Zagreb and a self guided Fin walking tour. Pours warm gold with a mid sized white head. A little hoppy on the nose with some herbal touches and a little dash of sweetshop confectionery. Smooth mouthfeel, a little peachy, maltiness showing, hops also come through, creamy mouthfeel. Good but is this really a West Coast? It tastes like a tweaked NEIPA and sadly I find that many breweries who've probably only been around for a short time and who possibly are better known for their NEIPAs fail to produce a nailed on West Coast IPA. The description suggests dry, bitter, clean, it pretty much fails on all of those.

Bottle picked up at a supermarket (forgot which one and where) had this sat outside Frank at Camp Vugec plac, nr Samobor Thursday 11th September 2025 after Fins walking tour of the on Zagreb. Dirty brown with an off white edging towards cappuccino froth coloured head. Nice mouthfeel, soft, bitterness is quite strident, a little grapefruit, also some summer stone fruit, it's a touch rustic but jolly pleasant.

Can at Ambasada, Zagreb Thursday 11th September 2025 at the end of Fins walking tour of the city. Pours hazy yellow, actually orange with a mid sized white head. Soft mouthfeel, lovely hoppiness, but 100 IBU, yeah I get it but never thought that it was that much, juicy and happy, bitterness is surprising, hoppy burps. Nice.

On tap at Ambasada, Zagreb Thursday 11th September 2025 at the end of Fins walking tour of the city. A style mix by the looks of things, nice mouthfeel, soapy white head, nice easy drinker, fruity with tropical fruit, no real bitterness, like it but wouldn't have had this down as a Pilsner NZ, more NE style but certainly with a twist.

On tap at Bunt, Zagreb Thursday 11th September 2025 during Fins walking tour of the city. Pleasant malty nose, but there's a touch of floral action going on. Refreshing with a soft mouthfeel, light bitterness, floral again, easy drinking uncomplicated Pils, could be crisper, bit it's not bad at all.

On tap at Valhalla, Zagreb Thursday 11th September 2025 during Fins walking tour of the city. Pours warm gold with a white head, refreshing, nice mouthfeel, nice furry light bitter rub across the tongue, it's very good, there are herbal touches underpinned by tropical fruit, good.
