Keg Draught at the Real Ale Classroom, Stoneygate, Leicester. Burgundy and opaque, no head. Big aroma of raspberry, blueberry, cranberry and a big gush of vanilla. Sour taste, but not overly so - there is some berry sweetness buried in the intense tart flavour. Short-ish finish. Thick, thick body with very little carbonation. Nice!

Draught keg at the Real Ale Classroom, Stoneygate. Light yellow gold, cloudy with a small swirl of white head. White grape, grapefruit, slight woody notes, maybe spruce or even pine. The taste is a revelation: sweet with a woody and almost herbal character dancing with the hops, followed by an intense herbal character. Bitterness in the finish. Wow. Very bitter in the final flourish. Medium body and carbonation. Soooo good.

Gravity cask at the Real Ale Classroom, Stoneygate. Yellow/gold and as hazy as you can imagine and an uneven swirl of white head. Gentle aroma with orange peel, cantaloupe, white grapefruit. Taste is slightly sweet, very hoppy but not overly so, with a bitter finish, lots of grapefruit juice here. Soft body and carbonation. It’s a decent beer although short of their best work.

Keg draught at the Real Ale Classroom, Stoneygate. Mid- to dark gold and clear with a swirl of off-white head. Floral aroma, orange blossom, maybe a metallic hint. Lime maybe. Tastes sweet, crisp, more orange notes, light grainy character with a bitter finish. Kumquat in the aftertaste. A pretty classy lager.

They're aiming for a continental style beer cafe here and they get bit pretty spot on. Not a lot of tables on their two floors but it's not too busy on a Saturday noontime. Six beers on draft, fairly ubiquitous German and Belgian stuff plus Siren and Tiny Rebel.Bottles are mixed - some boring stuff but also a 14% Omnipollo stout. Small menu with mostly bready stuff, cakes, waffles etc. Prices reasonable, maybe excepting rhe Omnipollo. Not a massive ticky place but Tull almost certainly find something new.

Posh micropub in the city centre. It has a wine bar feel but this bar is mostly about lovely craft beer. One small room, sift music, soft lighting. Everyone seems to know each other. Six keg taps dispensing beers on the sessionable side. They seem to be having a mini-takeover on Sureshot on my arrival, and I can live with that. If you happen not to like what is on draft for whatever reason, there's some great stuff in the fridges, mostly (but not exclusively) UK craft. It's nowhere as dear as it could be. Recommended.

Nice little micropub on Cavendish Circus, a stone's throw from the likes of a RedWillow and Buxton taps. They certainly hold their own and what they lack in quantity they make up for in quality. It is pretty tiny but nicely spaced so easy to find a spot. Friendly staff and clientele. Six keg taps plus a cider. I understand they usually do a few cask as well but it looks like they're closing for a week holiday soon so probably winding down for that. Beers from Northern micro outfits like Shindigger and Track are complemented by further breweries like Cardiff's Flowerhorn. Prices are fair, not cheap mind you but fair. Another great micropub (my third today) in town.
