Keg draught at Retford Craft House. Light to mid yellow gold, hazy, almost no head. Dank as fuck aroma, some overripe pineapple, orange, lemon peel. Tastes sweet at first but there's a well-judged bitterness near the dry finish. So not your normal NEIPA sugar bomb. Weighty body with little carbonation. All in all a pretty impressive beer.

Handpull cask at the Turks Head, Retford. Dark brown and very translucent. Small swirl of khaki head. Chocolate malt aroma with a touch of black liquorice. Very sweet taste, a bit much for me.loads of liquorice with a little bit of coffee. Watery body with no carbonation. It's just about okay.

Draught at the Cradock Arms, Leicester. Deep gold, fairly clear, no head. Aroma is pure sweet applesauce. Tastes so sweet, more apple but also some caramel, with a short finish. Pretty light body, still. It is okay but too sweet for me.

Keg draught at the Cradock Arms, Leicester. Light to mid-gold, clear witha small swirl of white head. Not a lot of aroma, some lemon cream pie, notes of canned pineapple. Lovely delicate taste, quite sweet and fruity with a gentle malt skeleton. Pronounced bitterness on the back of the tongue for the finish. Body is very light with medium to heavy carbonation. Everards forme are a hit and miss brewery but this very good.

440ml can bought from Tønne, Leicester. Pours a deep gold and clear with almost no head. Aroma of slightly stale filter coffee and St Clements. The taste works so well: a sweet coffee overlain with tart lemon. Sweet for the most part but sour around the corners. Light body with medium carbonation. Oh wait, here's more lemon... it wasn't done! This is so much fun.

Draught keg at Tønne, Leicester. Light to mid-brown and cloudy with a small beige head. Slightly muted aroma is giving me chocolate and light wheat grain. Taste is ambrosia, hoppy and bitter with the sweetness of the wheat. A floral flourish in the final sip, very bitter here. Medium body and carbonation. It all hangs together oh so well.

Keg draught at Tønne, Leicester. Light orange and crazy thick with almost no head. Aroma gives a truckload of mango and a little vanilla. Taste has a strong and unexpected taste of white pepper, but it works. Lots more of the mango here, it is not too sour but still has that tinge of tartness. Thick, thick, thick body with almost no discernible carbonation. Hmmmm. Not my favourite Vault City Beer - I am not 100% sure what they're going for here - but I'm enjoying it on its own merit.
