Keg draught at RedWillow Buxton. Dark brown and insatiable opaque with a ring of khaki head. Coffee understandably dominates the aroma, with notes of praline and salted caramel. Taste is sweet but measured, with hints of hazelnut and Marmite backing up the coffee flavour. Finish isn't exactly dry but it's not laced with sugar. Pretty well attenuated for the style. Medium body, maybe even on the lighter side, with heavy carbonation. Incredible stuff.

Keg draught at Seasons, Buxton. Very light gold, hazy with a small swirl of white head. Light aroma, fresh grass, lime, perhaps a touch of savoury herb. Lovely taste, sweet but not too much, with a touch of dry bitterness nearcthe finish. Notes of Asti, lime juice, underripe satsuma. The body is gentle with spritzy carbonation. I'm impressed.

Small micropub to the south of the main town centre area. The area around the bar was pretty crowded but to the right there were quite a few empty seats. It's a very cask-tastic establishment, with loads of pumpclips on the wall. They have four casks behind the bar, including one from Matlock's Bentley Brook which was a great find. A couple of crafty cans which i couldnt quite make out. Mad Squirrel maybe? Bag in the box cider as well. And lits and lots of dogs. On the dear side for sure, and not a must stop, but worth checking out.

Handpull cask at the Ale Stop, Buxton. Dark brown and a little bit translucent with a small uneven khaki head and some lacing. Big chocolate malt aroma, touch of Marmite. Bittersweet aroma with yeasty umami flashes. More bitterness on the long finish. Medium body with almost no carbonation. Decent stuff and a new brewery for me.

Decent Thornbridge pub in the city centre. It's open plan, a bit posh with dark wood panelling and furniture. It's certainly more popular than most places in the area at this time; I could barely get a seat at 3.30 on a Thursday. It's Thornbridge led of course but there's 1uite a few guests on the 10 cask lines: North Ridong, Glasshouse, RedWillow, Mallinsons. Keg isn't up to much hut there's a few Herman's, a couple more Thornbridge, and a Yonder sour. The only drawback for me is the atmosphere which is more city centre bar (which is what it is to be fair) as opposed to convivial pub. Still, a recommended stop as you're sure to find something new.

Handpull cask at the Cheshire Cheese, Buxton. Straw, mostly clear, a small and slightly clumpy white head. Aroma is floral, some sweet grasses, white grapefruit, satsuma. Sweet taste, some malty character with fruity hop on the back, a bit if bitterness near the finish with more grapefruit and white grape. Light to medium body; the carbonation is soft. Nice little beer.
