Olut updated a beer: Bitter Ale brewed by Higsons Brewery

Today is Helen Keller Day in the USA, and it's traditional to hold a charity fashion show to honour the deafblind activist. This beer is a traditional style bitter, something that may come back in fashion in the future, and this easy drinking reimagining of an old recipe is pretty decent. Mild fruits against a dominant bitterness.

Overlooking the sea and beach in St Saviour, just east of the capital, it's a two-roomed bar with a central service area for both and the larger side more suited for dining. It's a traditional pub, but updated by Liberation Brewery, and their usual range of cask, keg and bottles are available here. A big plus is that both sides have their own outdoor space, one being a more defined garden area.

Looking a little more classy from the outside than it is on the inside, especially with its prime location and pleasant terrace tables on Liberation Square, it's actually quite a regular traditional pub with a 'locals' feel on the inside. I'm sure it gets plenty of tourists though. It's not that expensive either, shows sport, but has a limited selection of regular ales from Liberation Brewery.

Large traditional urban pub in the backs of the town close to the Town Hall, next to what is arguably classed as a couple of tower-blocks by Jersey's standards in this low-rise conurbation. The front terrace is pleasant but loses the sun late on. Liberation cask and bottled available in an updated traditional setting of a decent size. A couple of craft keg available too.

Directly next to another 'Liberation' pub in the corner of Royal Square, although this one is a little more older and 'local' in design and feel. It's also a little cheaper with its drinks too, which includes a cask from Liberation and several of their associated kegs beer. It's not a huge range but the setting for its outside tables is very pleasant in a traffic-free pedestrian square.

Looking very old school from the outside, it's a little more modern than expected on the inside - towards an Irish bar styling with very modernised toilets. The beer selection is all macro keg, but a few Liberation bottles of their regular ales are available in a fridge.

Pedestrian streets corner pub with a square traditionally furnished room, lower-lit, with the bar along the back wall. A 'Randalls' pub but only macro brews available on keg. Whilst talking to a local in here about trying to find a Randalls beer he pointed me to the Prince Of Wales just a stones throwaway, but didn't find one in their either. Some chairs and tables are pub outside on the traffic-free street, which does get the sun late on

Across from the historic market building with a few tables outside for this view. On the inside, Liberation brewery have gone for a new-age boutique appearance for this pub they sell their own beers from. It does offer up something different in this respect - especially as they have plenty of other places in the vicinity. It's quite a big place too, with sport on a screen. Their regular brews adorn the bar along the right wall a little bit inside the venue, with some bottles in the fridges behind the service area too.
