Brewed in collaboration with Manchester's finest Track Brewing Co. When we designed this beer we wanted to make sure the result was a proper, big, roasty Imperial Russian Stout. We used cacao in the boil and then dry nibbed the beer with cacao nibs for an added choc kick. Lots of chocolate, caramel and toffee on the nose, and a little coffee as well. Then much the same initially on the palate before that big, roasty bitterness kicks in. This is complex and delicious now but should age beautifully as well.

500ml bottle. Pours almost black with a tan head, pretty well retained. Dark chocolate and roasted malts on the nose. Taste of dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, roast malts, coffee, dark fruits, liquorice, probably some brown sugar, finish is boozy, gently warming, and very bitter. Full bodied, smooth, very little carbonation. Very rich.

Bottle picked up from Beer Revolution, Hay on Wye, Powys, consumed at home Sunday 28th May 2018 down the garden by the pond looking at the new fish. Pours black with a mid sized light cappuccino coloured top. Coffee instantly comes through but on a bed of caramel and chocolate with a late hop charge. Thick in the mouth. Wow this is a lovely beer, there is a sherry like booziness to this, superb beer. A8 A4 T9 P5 Ov17 4.3

On tap. Pourslblack with short tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate and dusty roasted malts. Flavors of pure dark chocolate with something like a minty effect; rich roasted malts, dark vanilla and light dark sugar. Well crafted.

Keg at Small Bar - Bristol. Pours black-brown with a small, foamy tan head. The nose holds well toasted mats, cocoa. Medium sweet flavour with hints of scorched earth, baking cocoa, raisins, dried berries. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with mild booze warmth, burnt brown sugar, bitter dark chocolate, some roast, brown bread. Nice one.

Keg at Small Bar. It pours darkest brown with minimal head. The aroma is sweet, oily, rich roasted malt, maltesers, earth, toasted nut, coffee grounds and some stickiness. The taste is dry, slick, oily, sticky, chewy, tar, tannin, coffee grounds, toasted nut, walnut, burnt toffee and drying wood finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A bit drying, but alright.
