Gnommegang - Belgian-Style Blonde Ale

A little magic and a lot of mischief. This time the gnomes brought more than just yeast from their Belgian farmstead Brasserie d'Achouffe! While Coop and the gnomes were spicing things up at the brewery, our brewers were carefully fermenting signature, fruity, spicy Chouffe yeast to create the flavorful unique blonde ale we all love! You’ll enjoy the smooth drinkability, fruity aromas and flavors, and warming finish.

Bottle @ RBESG 2011 Grand Tasting at Dean Swift. Peachy belgian estery beer. Some psicy hop on finish. It’s ok. Bit strong. INtense. Entertaining though.

A hazed amber ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with candy sugar, light cloves and curacao, oxydation. In mouth, sweet fruity malt with light curacao, coriander, alcohol warmth, a bit tired. Bottle bb 2013.

Golden with light head. Served a tad cold which seemed to limit the aroma but it was still nice. Yeasts, lightly sweet malts, some tropical fruits, too. Got more out of the flavor as it warmed. The tropical fruit comes along a little more, nice yeast spice, sweet malts. Crisp finish. Very nice strong ale.

750 ml. Golden body with a white, frothy head, mostly lasting. Nice aroma of lemon, toasted grain, herbs, pear, pepper, coriander, bubblegum, basement. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. The finish is moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture and lively carbonation. A bit alcoholic, but a really enjoyable beer. Nice citrus twang wrapped in Belgian yeast mustiness. Tastes of light fruit, pear, flowers, light pepper.

Cloudy light amber. Fairly big head. The aroma is yeasty, estery, with pear notes. Big pear fruitiness. This is a fairly huge beer, quite complex. Maybe a hint of plastic, however, to take away from the good stuff.

750ml bottle from Pick’s poured into my Chimay Trappist glass. Pours a cloudy orange with a minimal amount of white head that dissipates quickly. Very soft aroma of tangerine, wheat, and a slight spice. Taste is medium-light sweet and very slightly sour. Taste of fermented fruit, coriander, some baking spices and a slight hint of banana. The alcohol makes it’s presence nicely known here. Light bodied with a slick yet creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long sweet finish. Overall, very good. I would seek this out to drink again.
