(Draft at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 17 Aug 2025) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of liquorice, dark chocolate, oak wood and bourbon. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, liquorice, oak wood, bourbon, vanilla, caramel, anise and a mild herbal bitterness in a warming finish. Full body, sweet. Rich, powerful and warming. Hardly shy, but fairly well balanced for its strength. Very nice.

Black colour, no head to speak of. Aroma's: bourbon, hopjesvla, sweet, vanilla, light wood and umami. Flavour is sweet, bourbon, vanilla. Full bodied. String alcohol, but drinks fairly easy. Long finish.

The first in what seems to be a trio of semi-‘remakes’ of the classic Algorithm from the time when Uiltje was still independent; a second one of these ‘new generation Algorithms’ seems to already be on the market as well meanwhile. Thanks Craftmember for sharing. Pale yellowish beige, open and dissolving, tiny-bubbled, unstable head on a black beer with vaguely bronze edges. Intense aroma of hot chocolate sauce, bourbon, fudge, Chocotoff candy, vanilla-scenting oak, black cherries, pecan nut pie, latté macchiato, ‘boerenjongens’ (rum-soaked raisins), walnut liqueur. Dense, sweet onset, black cherry, yellow raisin and blue plum with a very light teriyaki-like umami edge and soft carbonation; full, oily mouthfeel. Deep dark-chocolatey, pecan-nutty, toffeeish core, acquiring a bit of cappuccino-ish roastiness in the end but only lightly so, with sweetness prevailing over bitterness; a warming bittersweet bourbon glow only accentuates this, as does a tannic but vanilla-scenting oak wood effect. Ends with a long, deeply chocolatey, woody, soothingly boozy finish – as intense as it used to be, though seemingly a tad sweeter than the original. In any case and in spite of Uiltje having fallen into Bavaria’s clutches meanwhile, this is still a majestic, rich and technically very well-made stout – I could ironically state that this is among the best Bavaria beers I ever had.

0.33 l bottle from 'SpeciaalBierPakket.nl', bottled in September 2022. First beer of 2023. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty and quite fruity taste of praline, fruity bourbon, coffee and some dark fruits. Fairly sweet, malty, quite roasty and slightly fruity taste of praline, coffee, licorice, vanilla, fruity bourbon and some dark fruits, followed by a long, quite roasty-bitter, slightly boozy finish. Medium to full body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very tasty, lovely bourbon flavours, very mild for such a high abv. Good one!

Bottle. Color: Black, thin light brown head. Aroma: Roasted malt, Bourbon, vanilla. Taste: Smooth, nice combination of roasted malt, vanilla, Bourbon, some licorice. Bit boozy and warming mouthfeel. Full body, medium sweet, moderate bitterness. Just below average carbonation. Very well balanced.
