Bottle from Aldi/Kallea Fest box. Clear light amber/copper gold. Thick foamy white head, although it does soon shrink away. Aroma is sweet and malty with a sour edge. Flavourwise it's quite sweet before developing a sour citrus streak. Underlying earthiness and dough. Light-medium bodied. Thin to slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry slightly astringent finish. Overly sweet and sugary for me. Not a great Festbier.

Half litre bottle from the Lidl Fest Box, drank at home on 13th January 2026. Old gold in colour (like at old Wolves shirt), clean and clear, on top a fast fading white crown. Malty front to the nose and taste, bready and biscuity, enjoyed it.

Clear golden pour with a small (dissapearing) white head. Aromas of malt/grain, biscuit, a hint of lemon. Taste is malt/bread, hones, some sweet citrus. Not bad, but also not mindblowing.

Moderate sweetness, has a very basic sugary grain quality about it, a faint savoury note, nip of dry caramel. Doesn’t really hang together very well. Vaguely drinkable.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours an almost clear golden with a small, white head. Malty, biscuity nose. Solid body, sweet caramelly sweetness. Has a very odd oniony or even meaty off-flavot that is extremely out of place - and under that it's messy and unclean. Poor indeed. 051025

Bottle form the lidl pack. It likes clear yellow with a dissipating frothy white head. The aroma is damp grain, doughy, white supermarket bread with butter, biscuit, pencil shavings and some sweetness. The taste is dry upfront, quite sweet actually, doughy, cheap white bread, sponge cake, white sugar, grain, buttered popcorn, quite papery and boiled cabbage with a crisp finish. Rather prickly carbonation with average body. Can't say I like the green veg or sweet buttery vibes. The poorest one in the box.

The head is white and quickly dissipating, with a malty and slightly citrusy aroma, reminiscent of wet cardboard. Full-bodied, sweet and malty, the sweetness leans towards syrup. Crisp and bready, the finish is slightly herbal and surprisingly floral, yet very soft and rounded.

Bottle from the Lidl bumper bundle. Second fest beer of the evening, but I tell myself I'm allowed as its a Saturday, I've worked my arse off all day and my house is overrun with teenagers as its number 2 daughter's birthday night with her village gang. I've set them up in my pub at the bottom of the garden with cider and I'm hoping for a peaceful night. Trying to work out when I should start cooking for them..... Anyway, I'm rambling. The beer is ok, but perhaps a bit sweet?? I've definitely had better, but its ok.
