Slightly spicy with liquorice and grapefruit notes on the tongue. It is a well-balanced and full bodied IPA with a long dry finish and a distinctive red hue.

33cl bottle at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. An attractive reddish copper pour with a tight cream head; somewhat muted aroma with a touch of tropical fruit; a sweet caramel body, in the style of an ESB; then some grapefruit bitterness; and a finish with spice and sweet licorice. Not an attention grabbing ultra-hopped IPA - more refined and well balanced.

Bottle from Pilgrims Progress (JDW), Bedford. Golden brown, clear, decent creamy head and lotsa lacing. Smells malty and vegetal with a hint of stone fruit. Tastes sweet, with malt to the fore, but the finish has a more pronounced bitterness. Cinnamon toast in the aftertaste. Wow, they packed this with hops and still managed to make it taste of crystal malt...

Bottle at Westgate Wetherspoon Canterbury. Clear deep amber orange brown colour lasting beige head. Not a hugely hoppy aroma. Some malt fruit sweetness inthe mouth. Some bitterness on the finish. It’s a little sweet. Bitterness is just bitter not very hop fruity. Ok.

Bottle from the Standing Order. Appearance - deep amber to red with a decent head. Nose - toffee biscuits and light pine. Taste - toffee and more toffee. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a finish that could be a lot fresher. Overall - too cloying.

330ml bottle at my local Wetherspoons on 10th March 2016. Decent looking beer, red hue to the pour, full head on top. Hop lead but not a strong as I expected, this was rather bland and uninteresting to be honest, too sweet for an English IPA with the malts overpowering the hops after the initial hop like surge.

330ml bottle @ JDW Montgomery’s Tower, Shrewsbury. New bottles in spoons, how exciting! Except, this one isn’t. Pours deep amber, off-white head. Aroma is syrup booze, toffee. Taste is toffee, caramel malt, resin, booze, marmalade. Imbalanced & messy.
