A big, smooth, balanced stout brewed with sea salt, chillies and cacao nibs. Full bodied with a touch of salt. Scotch Bonnet chillies give at first a fresh fruitiness and then lead to a gentle warming. The whole beer is balanced by a small addition of cacao nibs, used to add a smoothness to the body, rather than to impart a chocolate character. A perfect match for oysters, but equally as delicious on its own. Brewed with Bramling Cross and Summit.

Keg at Waterloo Tap. It pours jet black with a decent tan head. The aroma is pretty rich, dark chocolate, brownie, dried fruits, light chilli spice, peppery sting, coffee grounds and wood. The taste is dry, rich roasted malt, charred wood, peppery spice, warming chilli, salted dark chocolate, coffee grounds, touch of alcohol and earth with a drying, chilli choc finish. Medium - full body and moderate carbonation. They did a good job here with the balance. Good fun.

Keg at Anspach and Hobday, Bermondsey, Saturday 8th April 2017 *7.4% version in the company of Bruno, Yogi, Lynn, Barry and Alec. Pours black with a slim tan rim, good looking beer. Nice, smooth, creamy mouthfeel, soft. Lovely interplay with the chilli, salt and roastiness. A streaky hoppiness. Great stuff. A7 A5 T9 P4 Ov17 4.2

At the brewery. Cask. 7.4% version. Almost opaque dark brown beer, tidy tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Fluffy dark malts, mild chocolate and cream. Modest savoury vibe and light chilli warmth. More dark chocolate on the light finish. This did not appeal to me one bit but it’s actually pretty good because the salt and chilli have been used sparingly.

On tap at BrewDog Clerkenwell. Black beer lasting tan head. Intense dark chocolate and tar aroma. Light roast chili. Some intense chocolate. I dont get a huge salt either. Its mostly a decent chocolate roast malt dry stout. A little chilli heat comes through on the burp. Mostly roast chocolate touch chilli heat on the finish.
