Cask sample @ ML Fontainas, Zwanze ’14.

i had the same version as in cml , just 3 days later . so its the same beer . its fou foune that is actualy too young ( not fermented yet ) . is this a diffrent entry ? i dont know, to be honoust .. anyway . @ cantillon brewery, thnx to jean ! pours lighter than the normal fou foune , if i remember correct. small white foam smell and taste are pure, pure appricot . no real complexity, but soo good . extremely drinkable, as expected .

Had about two glasses of this stuff on cask @ Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas as “Fou’ Foune 2013 (non-refermented)” during Zwanze Day 2013. Which Jean van Roy confirmed as being the same as Cantillon Pure Apricot. I was really looking forward to this one, incredible stuff, only a touch lesser than fresh Fou’ Foune 2012. Once this stuff will make it to Fou’ Foune 2013 in two weeks or so, it should surpass even 2012. Pours very hazy touch lighter apricot with a big & very stable fluffy head. Nose is pure apricot, creamy, hint lactic sour, only faint apricot compote as opposed to full-on apricot compote with fresh Fou’ Foune 2012. Taste is sweet apricot, light cooked apricots, hint apricot juice, very fruity, creamy, hint milky sour, very faint, only minor tang in the back. Very low on sourness & huge on fruitiness. Very minor lemon. Airy, fluffy whipped desert, full of fruits, little in the way of carb. Incredible stuff, to bad it comes around only once a year & you need to pinpoint the right moment. (Thx! for sharing people!)

Cask at Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Zwanze Day 2013. Very cloudy, brilliant golden color with a big, foamy, fine head. Glowing. Enormous apricot nose, some yogurt, vanilla, cream! Wow. big apricot flavor, creamy, lemon, dust, and yogurt, plus a bit of leather. The huge apricot flavor is completely different from any bottled Foufoune I have come close to. Lightly sour only. Oily, full body. Simply delicious. not hugely complex, but wonderful. (Labeled unblended cask Foufoune 2013, but we asked Jean and he said it was the same as this).

14/IX/13 - Zwanzeday! - on tap @ Moeder Lambic Fontainas (Brussels) - BB: n/a (2013-862)Thanks to 77ships, PriorL and Mathieu87 for sharing!
Cloudy yellowish beer, creamy white head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: fruity, quite some dairy notes, bit funky, cookies, sweet, barnyard, hay, metallic touch. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: fruity start, yes definitely more apricots than last year's FouFounne! sour, bit lemony, dairy touch, little bitter, lemon peel. Aftertaste: grapefruit, touch of kiwi sour & bitterness, orange peel. Very nice and refreshing beer!

Cask at GBBF 2012, London. Pours very cloudy orange with a fine, bubbly white head. Nose holds some super dense, ripe apricot. Light to medium sweet flavor with strong tartness - and it’s still somehow smooth. Light bodied with prickly carbonation. Very tart, bracing finish with light grass, faintly funky apricot, robust dryness. Super drinkable and delicious stuff.

GBBF. Very hazy orange beer, residual white head. Nose is sour and mouldy. Palate is light and crisp and dry. Tart but not overly so. As always with Lambic Fruits I struggle to reconcile the fruit with what’s on the label but in this case I can taste a little apricot as well as lemon and sublte generic fruits. Dry sherbetty finish. Okay. The sour fans were all over this one!
