16.9 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark amber brown with a medium beige head. Nose brings out dark red fruits, bready malt, and a hint of toffee. Flavour brings out red fruits, a hint of tartness, bready malt, and a touch of toffee. Moderate body, with plenty of red fruits and light tartness. Decent.

Bottle from The Gull, North Vancouver
Dark brown colour, medium head, reducing quite quickly. Mild but elegant aroma, malt, rye bread, sugar. Medium body, nice malt profile, burnt sugar, a touch of molasses, and very low bitterness.
It would be excellent if a bit thicke and sweeter, but profile-wise it hits the right notes. Very good.

Draft pour pint enjoyed at Special Brews. A clean caramel amber appearance with active carb and patchy foam head. Somewhat rich bready malt aroma, mild, some spices. Really easy drinking lager full of bready malts that lean both sweet and rye like spicy. Cool and flavorful lager. Soft toast like finish. Really well put together brew here.

Bottle. The description's reference to the Italian-German border is interesting, since no such border exists. The brewery in question is in between Milan and Como. Pretty squarely in Italy, really. Ok, so the whole Italian Pilsner thing is a bit of a farce since none of the beers labelled as such taste like Tipopils, but this one at least goes for it. Clean pale malt, herbaceous hops, dry finish. Decent bitterness. Good quality. I'm not sure it gets there, but at least they actually made an effort in the right direction, even if they are a wee bit geographically challenged.

Straw colour and slight haze. Medium head. Lemony, with a fresh pale malt. On the palate, it's a bit more litterboxy, but still not bad.
