Bottle. It pours a pitch black body, lightly oily, with a minimal sized head of small tan bubbles. The aroma has a good dash of coffee, with licorice, roasted malts, brown sugar and a touch of burnt wood. Not to forget alcohol, which is present, but not at the levels one might expect from a beer this strong. It's full-bodied and sticky-sweet on the palate, oily and smooth, with a light alcohol burn both in the mouth and throat. The flavor too has lots of coffee, both up front and as a base layer, with brown sugar, licorice, molasses and burnt wood sandwiched in between. Some notes of dark berries show up in the very end. A pleasant one indeed, and a year in the cellar didn't hurt either. Delicious. 201002

0,33 boks (takk til Sigmund!), hjemme: lett uklar gylden med fint som som varer. Grapefrukt, kvae, granskudd, overmodne citrusfrukter og ditto tropiske, engelsk appelsinmarmelade. Overraskende mild bittehed i afslutningen. En solid og oppkvikkende gjenoppretter av væskebalansen etter denne dugnadskvelden i båtforeningen.

Bottle. A more or less clear one, deep chestnut in color, with a creamy dark beige head. The aroma is a spice bomb indeed, cinnamon and cloves, with a licorice touch. Raisin, caramel, bread and brown sugar too. It's medium-bodied, nicely carbonated and semi-sweet, with lots of gingerbread and cloves in the flavor. Some lemony sourness kicking in toward the finish. A weird one indeed, but also quite nice. Don't think I could finish a bottle on my own. 200824

Bottle. A clear dark amber to brown beer with a nice finger-thick beige head. Toffee, cocoa, a light roasted touch, a hint of cinnamon and a light fruity hint in the aroma. It's medium to full-bodied, nicely carbonated and quite dry on the palate. The flavor has roasted malts, coffee hints, cocoa, cinnamon and a good dash of toffee and bread crust. Length finish. A nice quite low alcohol strength Christmas beer. 200824
